Would trade your 981 Spyder for 718 Spyder?

I don’t think so, with what it’s likely to cost. I didn’t spec my car but it’s the right colour, and I’ve gone aftermarket to change the one thing about it I didn’t like (base stereo).
People who are saying love the one you’re with and that pleasure in new things evaporates are right on imo. We humans are simply wired for dissatisfaction. If one of my cars isn’t meeting my needs I’d think about trading it, but can’t see it happening.

One thing that may change your perspective is that there are many who are not as fortunate as we are to be able to own $100,000 play toys. The mere fact that we are able to afford these cars puts us way ahead of majority of others in this country. This may have you rethinking the need or desire to spend the money for the new latest and greatest.
I am guilty of it also and I’m struggling with whether I should purchase a new .2GT3 RS if I get an allocation but when I think about the above it puts things in perspective and makes me rethink whether I should. As maverick said just because you could doesn’t mean you should.

Well said. As Dostoyevsky put it, "Man gets used to everything, the beast."
That said, the only thing I don't love about my 981 is the steering feel. It's just a bit light and numb compared to my 991 GTS with DSC. That, though, goes down as the most first-world problem thing I have ever written, so...
I wonder if it's worth thinking about the commercial forces, in Porsche and elsewhere, that are stacked up towards making us feel dissatisfied with what we have. Lots of jobs for lots of clever, creative people. I kind of love the idea of finding some immunity from that (with my two 3.8l, normally aspirated Porsches obviously). Lol.

I agree with previous comment about steering feel. It’s the only thing that needs improving. Compared to new GT3 (and previous one for that matter) that I recently drove back-to-back it has noticeably better feel. If Spyder has GT suspension this would likely be improved. If it’s a genuine GT engine this would also be cool but it certainly doesn’t need 4.0.
So to answer the original question, I would if it’s a GT car and wouldn’t if it’s a turbo.

Another way to think of it.......if it would cost me less than $20,000 or so to move up to a new unit with a more torquey motor, specced exactly how I'd like it, I'd be tempted. I'd certainly leave off PCCB, leather seat backs, leather PCM cover, and some other high dollar things this car was specced with by the 918 mafiosa who ordered it. That alone should narrow the price gap between a new model and mine.

I hope lots of people upgrade, especially those with 18 ways, leather steering wheel, reversing camera and BOSE.
The 718 Spyder is going to be so much better and, well, new.
