Default 2016 981 Back Up Cam / Maxspeed Motorsport

Howdy,

I did a search, to no avail... Any and all help greatly appreciated..

I wanted to add a back-up cam to my 981 and came across these folks... I emailed the guy at Maxspeed (https://www.maxspeed-motorsports.com...ctronics_.html) and asked for the install instructions and he would not share - said I had to buy the system to get the instructions.. That's crazy, IMHO..
Question.. Has anyone here used or actually installed this system? Your thoughts?

Many thanks,

Mr. Magneto

Looks great, and a nice upgrade for $200, wonder if that comes with camera? I would be all over it, but I have the base head unit. Doh!

I have aNAV TV unit installed:

It is a little more expensive but it is a proven solution and integrates perfectly with the PCM.

This is what I use... i like it

https://quickvucams.com/

I have the wireless one no drilling, no wiring, transfer car to car if you want. Super picture, I like it.

Seems like a good product, but I suspect routing the wiring through the interior and firewall would be a PITA hence the 2-3 hour estimated install time for a pro, plus you have to pay a Porsche dealer to use PIWIS to activate. If you pay an installer and Porsche you're looking at much much more than $200.

They posted a youtube video, and while it doesn't show the installation he talks about how he did it. Any of the installs will require running a cable from the rear into the cabin, so that's going to be the same.

Thanks to everybody for the insights and replies..!
Hello Blacksheep..do you have the 4+" screen - where do you place it?
I've found some pretty good printed instructions on how to route wiring from R to F, so I'm still toying with the idea.. A wireless solution maybe..?
My real problem is taking an entire day to do it..LOL!

Thanks!

Looks like there's another option available as well: http://www.cruxinterfacing.com/produ...-66/index.html you can find these for sale for around $450 so somewhere in the middle. I do like the look of the camera in Maxspeed's setup that it goes in a license plate light hole and get's power there seems cool.

I keep it in the glove box. I took off the mount so it fits easier. I only get it out when I need it, then I plug it in, back up and put it away.
