A durametric cable will allow you to reset reminders.

It does not list 981 models. That is the problem 2016 and on Porsche is not allowing connection by 3rd parties.

Hmm...

Maybe Cobb?? Give them a call. They are pretty good about reverse engineering stuff, and already have an accessport for the 981.

Anyone run into this and is there any way to fix this without paying the dealer $450 service charge?

Find another indy shop that has the PIWIS diagnostic tool Porsche provides and pay them to reset the light. I bet you can find one to do it for $40. Cobb AP for 981 can definitely communicate with the ECU, don't know about its ability to reset service lights/reminders.

Skuplist: even though it does not list 981s, I believe it still works. We had a PCA event and a guy brought one and hooked it up to my car - seems to do everything normally. We did not reset that specific code, but it did reset an O2 sensor code.

Okie: Thanks for the document; very useful. The old way to check oil was so confusing!

If there was an option when ordering new Porsches to have a dipstick, I'd pay an additional $150 just to have one.

+1. Dipstick and emergency hand brake are the two features I desire most on my Spyder (okay, add the GT3RS-style vented front fenders . . . )
