Technically, it’s a 982. Porsche refers to the 982 in its internal and service information so the only people calling it a 981.2 are enthusiasts that want to try to apply their logic to a number that has been entirely chosen by Porsche... and I was calling it a 981.2, also lol

Those who have been following the story know that NA is hardly "speculation" at this point as there is plenty of evidence out there that reasonable minds would consider "firm."
But hey, like I always say, nobody wants the next Spyder to be turbocharged more than I do. I can always use an instant $20K - $30K increase in the value of my 981 Spyder if it goes down in Porsche lore as the last NA Boxster, the last NA Porsche convertible, and the last NA non-GT car.
Bring on turbocharging --- PLEASE!!!!

Speculation = the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence.

BTW a significantly more powerful turbocharged Spyder wouldn't be so bad IMHO. Nobody is saying the GT2 is a garbage because of it's engine ?

I might be crazy... but off these pictures I think the Spyder lines flow perfectly with the 982 styling.

There is nothing in that photo to suggest its a turbo (and unequivocally not a 3l turbo) and to be honest it wouldn't matter if it was.
Spent yesterday driving around a track in 488s and 458s - the best all round car was the 488GTB Spyder - complete with its amazingly responsive turbo charged engine.

Highly doubly they will drop in the 4.0 for the same reason they didn’t drop the GT3 3.8L. The 4.0 was specifically built for the GT3. Would be nice if they did.

Could be camera angle, but the new hips of the 718 don't look like they flow with the streamliners as well as they do on the 981.
