Soul Performance Products - 987.1 Exhaust and Headers Showcase
Meet the Soul Performance Products Competition Suite for 987.1 Cayman / Boxster - performance components built by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts.
DEVELOPMENT: We have had ample time around many exhaust configurations for the 987.1 and set out to build the ideal setup for enthusiasts. We decided on this design as it offers an incredible sound when you have the pedal down, but it is VERY refined when driving around town. The Soul mufflers practically eliminate droning – even with aftermarket catless headers the sound is reserved during partial throttle! No valves necessary – we are confident that our system is a solid option for those who like it loud when it’s appropriate but reserved around town. Expect no check engine lights
CONSTRUCTION: Each system is made from mandrel bent T304L stainless steel tubing and features mufflers with fortified casings in the interest of durability. Choose from three attractive 3.5” tip options - or we can even build you a custom set to meet your needs.
Our precision engineered headers are meticulously fabricated from T304L stainless steel. Proven design elements including port matched flanges, smooth radius primary tubing, and collectors that optimize the exhaust flow all work in conjunction to maximize power gains. Every set is rigorously quality-checked prior to shipping.
POWER: The 2006 Cayman S was advertised as making 291 crank horsepower from the factory, which translates to around / under 265 wheel horsepower. During testing on a Dynojet dynamometer by a third party, the vehicle put down an average of 286 wheel hp and 244 ft-lbs of torque, with the strongest run being 291 whp and 250 ft-lbs of torque.
BOLT ON AND GO: Each product is tested in a fixture to ensure perfect fitment. Thorough installation instructions are included in the box for a straightforward install that can be performed by most DIY enthusiasts.
LIFETIME WARRANTY: Enjoy your Soul exhaust components with confidence on both the street and track as they are covered by our Lifetime Warranty! Our team will quickly work with you to resolve any issues that you may have.

Looks like a nice product.
But jeesh! These cars were built over 10 years ago. How long until there is a product for 981s or current models?

Sharing a review from Planet9 on our Performance Exhaust:
"Fit this system up to my 06 CS MT. Agreed..wonderful build quality and packed so well it took 15 minutes just to liberate it from the box! It replaced a 'speed-shop-special' that was wicked above 3g on the flats...friends would have me blip it in their driveway, elbow each other and just smile. Unfortunately it was dreadful pulling up my small town hills at the 35mph speed limit during my pre-dawn commute. Droned so bad, lights in houses were snapping on as I passed! After buying the OEM over-engineered Porsche mounting system that was missing from my current 2-pt rubber hanger setup, I finally put this system on. Apart from 5/6 snapped studs the install went well. Fired her up and what a difference!
I would say the sound is still 'bold' but it allows me to drive differently (better) and my s-o-t-p dyno seems to like the shared back pressure at the tip crossover (clever). Old system was 2 separate pipes with glass pak looking muffs welded at 45 degrees to the hacked off OEM exhaust piping. I must say the drone was reduced 80% along the same route. Jacking it up on the I-890 cloverleaf and blasting onto the highway (never over 55 I am most satisfied. Still can rattle the bridge hardware when passing under but most tame hitting the city streets beyond. I can even hear the other noises she makes now (that I didn't know where there) and the radio...well I can hear it now!
Most recommended! And I, too, have been monkeying with exhaust since the 70's. Best sound since my '72 BB Chevelle SS! Excellent support (thnx John) and rapid response to any questions/issues. I am impressed! I can absolutely recommend this system for the 987.1."

This would be much more impressive if you had bothered to do a "before" WHP dyno run to validate those "before" numbers. Too many unknowns to consider it gospel. I mean, really, exhaust-only adds 15%? To a Porsche?? Sorry, that sounds too good to be true, and therefore I can't believe a word of it.
The numbers come from third party testing by the Boost Brothers at Eurocharged Cincinnati and I asked for the most average run file to make a chart with. They did not have the factory exhaust and purchased our system as their existing aftermarket system had broken. They decided to dyno the car for their YouTube channel and any claims we've made can be seen in the video.
We would be happy to pay for dyno runs for any local customer to get more third party dyno information. We're very transparent and believe in getting ethical dyno results - we aren't going to make any claims unless we have information. The numbers we advertise should be realistic, not exaggerated, and repeatable so that any customer can replicate the same data at their local shop.

Thank you for the clarification and correction.
I still stand by my statement that if one is going to claim Power Increase numbers they will be more easily accepted as legitimate if they are scientifically obtained. That is, with repeatable before/after tests, meaning same car, same dyno, same conditions, everything the same except the exhaust. Yes, I realize it costs money, that's part of the cost of doing business. We have no real idea what the car in question did before the exhaust. Is it likely that it was near stock advertised numbers? Probably. Is it likely that the drive train loss was about 9%? Maybe. Was the Porsche dyno used in the After test? Obviously not. There are just way too many factors, most of which compound each other, to just do an "After" test and get any kind of meaningful numbers.

We agree - and we're looking for the chance to get a 987.1 on the dyno at no cost to the owner.
Just last week we wrapped up dyno testing at a local shop during 991 Turbo development. Same day, same car, different components. We even had a bespoke tune crafted for our full catless setup that will maximize power safely.
