Cool Alex's 987.2 Cayman S Introduction

Hello, I recently picked up my first Porsche and thought it was appropriate to introduce myself.

In January 2017, I purchased a 2011 Cayman S 6SP finished in Speed Yellow with 16,000 miles. I was searching for the right 987.2 for about 2 years and after a couple of failed attempts (bad PPI’s) I found the perfect one.

There is something special about the 987.2 cars that the 981’s, 718’s and .1 cars can’t capture. I was specifically looking for a 987.2 CS 6SP in a “fun” color. This proved to be quite difficult as most cars were either: Black, White, Silver or Gray. I was on holiday in Amsterdam when the car popped up and I called right when I got back to the states. I had a PPI performed and purchased/shipped the car sight unseen from the Midwest to sunny Florida.

So far, I absolutely love this thing. I’ve had experience with high horsepower turbocharged cars in the past and wanted something NA before they all disappeared. The smooth power delivery all the way up to 7400RPM is absolutely intoxicating with the noises it produces. The sublime handling and braking characteristics continue to blow my mind, never once have I felt overwhelmed. Any hints at over/understeer are quickly remedied. I know I am in the minority but I prefer the subdued interior styling of the 987’s to the newer cars. The exterior styling is absolutely perfect; I love staring at the curvature of the rear quarter panels as they flow into the LED taillights. I can’t pinpoint what I love most about this car: the engine, the chassis, the aesthetics, the handling, the braking… all of them exceed my expectations on every drive.

As of now, I don’t plan on modifying much to the car. I bought GT3 brake ducts and will be performing the Cayman R gauge visor delete soon. Headers + Tune will probably happen, but not in the near future as I am simply enjoying the car so much as is. I plan to participate in Auto-X and some HPDE’s at Sebring later this year to learn more about the car.

Anyways, here are some pictures and the option list. I look forward to making new friends with everyone.

Cheers,

Alex

Back out one level and in the upper left above the darker gray bars that says "Threads in Topic" there is a rectangle that says "Post Topic" with a P car silhouette behind it.

I've been quite busy with work outside the country but finally had a chance to attend a DE at Sebring. The car was a blast and exceeded all of my expectations. I also confirmed during my tech inspection at Reeves that I am on Cayman R suspension. I installed the GT3 brake ducts prior to Sebring as well.

Hello friends,

I was living out of the country most of last year so there were little updates on the car. I am now back to my permanent residence in FL and have been driving the heck out of it. I'm trying to make it to an AutoX day later this month with some Sebring visits in the summer/fall.
