I'd say the Audi R8 V10 is perhaps the one car you might have overlooked. As much as I love the 981 CS and what a joy it is to drive indeed... the R8 is an incredible car for the money, you could probably pick one up in that range, and it sounds absolutely incredible! Nice frunk for functionality... paddle shifters...

I say forget the cars on your list, you're going to be sorely disappointed. I'd favor a 981 Cayman S with PDK or a GTS w/ PDK. Won't be disappointed IMO.

I never felt that the low end torque was that great. Since the car was so heavy it negated the torque somewhat. Really didn't like the steering. Takes way too much gas for the performance. 981s 0-60mph around 4.4 with pdk. 1/4 mile around 12.5. c63 pp 0-60 around 4.2. 1/4 mile around 12.1.

If you want the c63 coupe..at least get the new one. Big upgrade.

definitely thought about the r8, but v10's with remaining warranty are beyond my budget

from a rolling start, the c63 I drove felt much quicker and torquier than my 981CS

You said you were interested in an Aston. My brother has a 2015 AM Vantage coupe with 500 miles (yes, no misprint) and a 6speed manual, nav, etc. Occasional Sunday drives only. The car has never been wet and is stored in climate controlled garage. I've seen the car and there is not one flaw anywhere on the car. I have no idea if he wants to sell it.

Definitely understand, a warranty is always nice for peace of mind.

I have to say then, I'm joining the PDK 981 crew Perhaps with a set of sport headers and a tune to wake it up a bit but driving the 981 is, simply put, a fantastic experience (as you are well aware!). It has so much potential and feels balanced and poised. And if I had to drive an automatic, PDK would be my transmission of choice.

I know that this doesn't necessarily fit the low end torque category, but what about a nice 997.1 GT3? You certainly get some different characteristics from the older car that would likely result in a more engaging and exciting driving experience, IMO.

Ahh, missed the only car part! What about a CPO 991.1 Carrera? Certainly has some practicality to it, is reliable, would have great warranty and still be a blast to drive!

Best of luck in your search

It may be worth it due to the CPO. That warranty is REALLY quite good, I know because I used to work at a Porsche dealer
