If you’re driving a spyder daily, you’ve made a choice to deal with a manual in a low car already. Sf, is not going to change much for you.. most people forget that the vast majority of our great city is flat.

I think the chin spoiler in a Spyder is basically a sacrificial part anyhow. $250. As hard as I try to avoid scraping...

Or a GT4 which seems to have a similar front lip and clearance?

How difficult is it to drive in the city? How much scraping and/or real damage have you incurred? I'm assuming there will be a lot of scraping, just don't want to see the front fender ripped off or severely damaged by the uneven roads.

Thanks for any advice! I'm leaning towards just ordering a new Boxster S but the Spyder is calling me...

fwiw... this will be a daily driver, so it'll see these roads a lot.
The thread starter @CAlexio has experience with Spyder in SF and he’s a very helpful sort.

My daily for several years in SF was an R75 and a Suzuki 500. You had to know your route well - roads are pretty bad. If you are randomly flying around the city you'll have issues, if you get it dialed in it is not so bad.

If you are limited to one car, and the Spyder is out, there isn't another car that makes as much sense as a Tesla 3.

Default Spyder reliability

Dropped off the wife’s Lexus. While it’s tempting to joke about it being ironic that the Lexus needs service and the Porsche doesn’t, in reality it’s not a mechanical issue. Lexus is replacing the defective interior trim at no charge on an out of warranty 10 year old sedan. This is astounding to me. As for the Spyder, almost 4 years and 20k miles of driving and zero mechanical issues.
