Default Endangered Species - Cayman R

What does everyone think of the Turbo II wheel vs Spyder wheel?

I thought they were just ok in photos, but in person they look good. These Turbo IIs are per the original build, but I'm on the hunt for GT2 buckets and Spyder wheels.

That car looks awesome, but I personally think the Spyder wheels suit the car MUCH better

I think the Spyder wheels look better, but the Turbo II wheels are forged so in keeping with the purpose of the Cayman R.

Agree that spyder wheels would be a nice upgrade, but the car looks great!

Interesting ownership history- I've never been a turbo guy, but was dead set on the 997.2 GTS until I drove the 987.2 Spyder platform. Cool to see you moving from the 997.2 to the CR, would be interesting to hear your thoughts on why (since, of course, I still think about the 997 GTS all the time!).

Hope to see you around Chicago!

I miss the GTS dearly, and like the look of it over the Cayman R personally. However this Cayman R is a MT which is very elusive so I opted to make the switch. Let's see what this mid-engine hoopla is all about!

That is one beautiful 987.2 Cayman R you have there! I see that you have some interest in wheel options for your car. For your reference, we offer an entire line of forged wheels for a fraction of the cost of competitors that we can customize for your specific application. Here is link to our product thread for more information on our wheels, and below are some I have attached some pictures of our popular 19in SV101 and SV103 Monoblocks on a 987 Cayman for your reference. Shoot me a PM for any questions/orders, it would be great to work with you!

The gray color doesn't match... Is this what you were referring to?

Thought they were OEM, but after looking at them it seems they may not be and added by the previous owner.

I'm not tying to dis the wheels it's hard to judge over the net. I don't care for the signature logo it's reminiscent of the kind of off brand wheels you see at Manny & Mo's. IMO wheel centers are a critical piece of the wheel as your eye eventually flows to that point. I think the factory centers are well done and HRE makes a great product in that regard as well. Just not a fan of the yin/ yang logo center.

The spyder wheels are lighter than the Turbo II wheels and I think the Spyder wheels look much better. The Spyder wheels are very hard to clean, but I think the Turbo II would also be difficult to clean.

I had the Turbo IIs on my CR. I loved them. They have to be seen on a CR to appreciate them. I liked them better than the standard wheels. I think the rear wheel was 1/2 narrower than the standard CR wheel. They aren't too hard to clean. I used 5mm spacers.
