Search GT4 forum for posts by d00d. He has an extensive thread about a vent to atmosphere, and drip to ground, of any oil that might come out. Also some info in there about some high quality air-oil separators that can be installed in the crankcase vent line.

I did the direct vent mod described by d00d and added a small Summit Racing catch can. So far the no oil build up with several thousand street miles.

Did you take it out? Looking at it isn't enough, the backside is what gets the bulk of the debris.

Yep, pulled it out, twirled it around in the light, bumped it on the floor, pulled some of the folds apart - couldn't see any reason to replace it.
