A/C Delete?
I have dual climate control and burmester in each of my cars, but sometimes I wish I had ordered with stereo and a/c deleted. Anyone do that with their 981?

Having owned two 987.2 Spyders with no A/C, I wouldn't do it again. Narrows down your customer base for resale. If you plan keeping it forever, might be different story.

No radio ok
Keep ac.
You live in Perris you need it 6mo out of the year.

I have been watching the used car market for the 987 Spyder since the beginning, the cars that are not selling are the ones without AC. You are basically alienating 97% of prospective buyers out there.
On a 987, AC delete saves about 7lbs. It is probably worth while just to go on a diet.
IMO, power mirrors are non-essential. I wish for that to be deleted instead.

Oh! I'll play devil's advocate- AC delete here on my 987 Spyder. In some sick and twisted ways, I enjoy it. I enjoy knowing and telling people that my Porsche is so hardcore that it doesn't even have air conditioning. I enjoy telling people that it saves weight in the name of performance, just like my fabric door pulls, 2-piece manual top, carbon fiber buckets, and manual transmission. My car is a pure, unadulterated, driving machine and doesn't need to double as a transportation appliance.
Ok... Have I ever missed the AC? If I'm completely honest, I think there were 1-2 times this past summer when I'd wished I'd had it on an extremely hot and humid day when I had to drive top up in the rain. The rest of the time? Nope. I'm a windows down driver most of the time, regardless of what I'm driving.

While I'm an advocate for lighter weight vehicles I do not think I could live without the AC and Radio in my Spyder. There are times throughout the year that I am glad I have both.
But there are plenty of other things in the Spyder which I would be fine eliminating including as mentioned already, the power mirrors. I also wish they removed even more of the sound deadening and simplified the radio to a single din rather than the huge screen.

All I'm saying is if it's a keeper for you great... it's worth it (depending on climate/location). Just saying if you ever have to get to the point of resale, your market is extremely limited. So many people were turned off by no AC when I sold both of mine. I was quite shocked actually... to the point when I ordered my 981, it was a must.
Also another factor... on the 987.2 Spyder you could remove the rear portion of the top allowing a ton of airflow through the cabin. It was amazing.... I loved the feeling. With the 981, you don't have this feature. If Porsche brought this back for the 718 Spyder, I would be all over that!

Actually, I had to check, you are right. The radio was 7lbs. I have actually went gluten free the last few years, went from 180lbs to 140lbs....don't fee any difference.

Could I do without A/C? Sure, no problem. I've driven for many years without A/C. Just open the windows and enjoy the sound, the smells and the wind in the hair (well not that so much anymore). So, that being said, when ever SHMBO is aboard the windows go up and the A/C goes on. Also A/C is good when zipping down the highway at extra-legal speeds. This is really the only time I also use the radio.

To me, it's stupid not to have both. If you don't want to use them, fine. But when you need them, they're there. And also for resale. Without it, you cut your resale chances for I'd say at least 90%. Most folks could lose the 27 (or whatever) lbs themselves, plus it makes no measurable performance difference. And to make matters worse, you don't save anything over having them. Nonsense to me, but to each his own.

I guess I'm feeling the car is so raw that the a/c and stereo units seem to clutter up and complicate the space and experience a lot. Like everyone I love my music but I've been driving around a new navigator and when I get in the Spyder, it feels so visceral that I don't need the other stuff. I'm pretty much in Altadena 100% now and I take the Navigator out to riverside when I drive there...If I were to get a 987 Spyder, which I will one day, it's going to be without the a/c and radio. Call me crazy
