Spyder / Boxster Window Tinting! Come on in...
So the time has come to perhaps get a nice window tint. Having never had a convertible, I have no idea what people usually get. My thought/concern is the scenario when the top is down but the windows are up. Does it look weird if you have a 50% side window tint but then obviously have a 100% tint all over your head and most of the car? My gut tells me lighter is better, say 80% or even a 90% for the sides. This would primarily be for UV protection and I'm thinking of getting the front windshield done as well just to keep the leather dash and interior from wearing so quick with all the sun here in CA.
Lemme know what you've done (what tint material), what you've liked and disliked and most importantly, what you'd recommend!

For those of us who may not be familiar with window tint, does "20%" refer to the amount of light that is let through, or the amount of light that is blocked out?

I'm considering window tint but purely for heat rejection purposes (it can be clear for all I care). But is this pointless because of the fabric top? Are the tops actually insulated pretty well? If not, then tinting a convertible with a fabric/canvas top may just be a pointless endeavor (from a solar gain/heat rejection standpoint only. Obviously tint offers other benefits: UV protection, privacy, aesthetics, etc.)
Do people who have tinted their Boxsters noticed that their cars are cooler after parking under the sun (with the top closed and windows up) for an extended period, vs. factory (bare) glass?
