Default Headliner giving up in 2007 Cayman

I got in the car today to find the headliner in full droop mode. Is this a common problem?

Anyone in Atlanta have an upholstery shop they can recommend?

Thank you,

Erik

My 2006 CS has the headliner in the hatch drooping. Even when you have the hatch open, you don't notice it, unless you really look up. But, it has got to go.

I got four yards of charcoal gray headliner with foam backing from a specialty company, along with 3M spray adhesive. I am going to do my own liftgate refurb, as well as the A-pillars. The material matches my stone grey and charcoal interior.

Sorry to hear that you're a victim to the poor headliner. It appears that hot environments exacerbate this issue. My car spent all of its life in Florida and Texas, so I anticipate seeing the full headliner let loos any day, now.

Yes, my car came from Florida and sits in my hot garage in Atlanta. Oh well.

Happened to my friends 2008 Cayman S. He replaced it with alcantara.

I like the alcantara route. The car was smoked in so any soft stuff I can replace is helpful. I manage to get the headliner out this morning without too much carnage.

I found the shop the dealer uses (Complete Interior Restorations in Chamblee). Owner knew right away what I was dealing with. He suggested alcantara before I could. Quoted $550.

Seems like the right place:

I saw this thread and your location; wanted to recommend the same guys. I have a number of vintage bmw friends in your area and they have had great results. That E-type running panasports looks pretty enticing.

That headliner looks great.

I'm very pleased with the way it turned out. Very fast turn around too.

Apparently this shop has re-done just about every 986 Boxster top/rear window in Atlanta. They are now waiting for the 981's to go bad ;-).
