Rubber biscuit
I guess I'm posting this to help myself feel better, but...
I am the proud owner of a new-to-me 981 Boxster Spyder. The car was originally a gift from PCNA to the owner while he waited for his 918 (the guy was some Hurley Haywood, whoever that is). Bought it from a salesman who is a long time friend. Got a great deal, etc.
It's a fantastic car. I had a Ferrari California 30 HS before this, so this is quite a change. But it reminds me of the Ferrari 360 spider 6sp I had before that. A Lot, in fact. A 360 spider with a modern interior and less flash / attention to boot. Nice.
But here's the thing: it came with partial leather (standard interior). This is the first porsche I've owned in over a decade without full leather. That grates on me, honestly. I wish the interior could be made to feel a little more 'special' in spite of it having a "rubber biscuit" for a dash. No ideas how, though. I'm not a CF freak/fan: way overpriced bits that look a little too much of trying to be a 430 scuderia to me.
So, well, there's my quandary. I'm open to suggestions for what to do here.

Funny, I'm just the opposite. I hate the Porsche full leather interior; doesn't belong in a sports car IMHPO. Wish my Spyder didn't have it, but I had no choice buying out of dealer inventory. Much prefer the look of the standard plastic dash. No idea if you can have someone cover it after the fact.

I really dislike the standard interior as well; it feels very cheap to me. Someone posted this site http://shop.exclusiveoption.com/981-...r-2012_c10.htm
To add on extra leather. I have no experience with them, just passing along the message.

Not worth the effort and I like the build otherwise. I actually considered buying an out of state car with the standard interior when I bought mine, but it wasn't worth the additional hassle and the build wasn't as desirable to me. So I figured I'd just live with it.
Wish I had the base lights/no washers as well.

Sounds like a trade would be ideal. Each of you would be getting the car you want and the Hurley Haywood pedigree certainly adds to the desirability of it vs the full leather cost.
If you make a clean trade there would be no additional taxes involved, I have done this before successfully. The only cost would be shipping but if one of you finds a local carrier you can likely get a deal on that too. Something to consider.

Tom another option would be to purchase the leather parts through your dealer and have them installed. The dash, doors, center console and other parts are all available but not cheap.
If you're patient and watch the for sale forums you can also find these parts stripped off of a track car. If I'm not mistaken the interior dash/doors etc. should match up with all 981 caymans and Boxsters.

Hurley's a great guy, got to follow him around the track (he had one hand on the wheel for the most part...sigh) and we sat next to each at dinner while in Birmingham.
If you like the car (other than the lack of leather) I look into what you can buy from Porsche. Replacing the dash would be stupid expensive, some seat parts/etc. would be expensive.
