Lol that is awesome! Full leather in a Spyder is essential isn't it? On one thread someone said full leather was lighter.

Unfortunately I think it's heavier but still to me it was worth it. The full leather really changes the look of the interior and Porsche has done a really nice job with the newer leather to keep it tight and glued down.

The only downside is that you'll need a good supply of leatherique on hand to keep things conditioned.

Do people actually condition the leather?

I have been lightly conditioning mine since I purchased the car 6 years ago and the leather still looks perfect. The key is to use a light amount of conditioner, anything more and you risk damaging the adhesive underneath.

TMC, any chance you can have two equal parts weighed to compare the difference between full leather pieces and the rubber pieces?

It is NOT heavier than the rubber biscuit. If anything, it's lighter.
For some reason, the pleather dash is "really thick" whereas the leather is not.

No kidding

I was under the impression that Porsche just glued the leather over the rubber but apparently that's not the case. Being lighter really does make it a must have option on these cars!

The "Rubber Biscuit" description still cracks me up.

Looking forward to seeing the end product.

I like the alcantara on the glove box! I love alcantara. I love my LWBS! I do wish there was a bit more carbon like say the front part of the roll hoops and I do wish the dash was in alcantara. I am not a fan of leather though . Especially on a roofless car! But that looks mint!

Yes, the whole lower dash is. I wanted a GT3 feel. My old, dearly departed 997.1 GT3 was done up just like this.

What a huge improvement. The lower alcantara works well with the leather and the painted parts of the interior. A similar look to the Spyder Classic Interior package but in black instead of red.

I like Alcantara, but not for areas with contact -- e.g., seat surfaces, steering wheel. So using it on the lower dash like this is pretty awesome!

You're a brave man TMC. But I fully agree with you. Plastic on these cars looks like crap indeed. Plastic was an absolute deal-breaker for me, since no way I'd be brave enough to submit my new car to that surgery. Hope no new rattles or creaks. And yes, your car looks really nice with Alcantara on non-touching surfaces. I wanted that, but seat ventilation converted the Alcantara on door inserts and lower dash into leather. Oh well. Not bad, but leather would have looked sportier... and less maintenance. But at least the headliner is all Alcantara (fully optioned GTS here). My car sits mostly in the garage, so no need for lots of conditioning. But I do condition the leather at least every 6 months.
