Anybody know how many of these new boxster spyders
were made globally and how many for the US?
When you guys do a final count & get it confirmed from
official factory sources, it will be interesting to compare
it to the original 2011/2012 987 Spyders. We did that
work years ago:

Riding my bike to work along the Hudson I pass a lot of cars on the Westside Hwy, one that sticks out of the millions I've seen was a pristine stock 914 2.0 - nothing special but it looked really parred down and it looked like a fun car. I've always liked the once ubiquitous 914; it was the "Porsche for the People" and the car kind of encapsulates the 70s in all its complexity good and bad. Conceptually I see where you are going, but don't You think the Spyder is less compromised then the 914?

so there were 3500 914-6 which 45 years later
sell for 10-15 times what they cost new or more...
Well, almost. Here are the figures generally accepted
re: 914 production, including the now valuable 914-6!
I lived that period of Porsche history. Supposedly around
1788 914-6 in total were shipped to USA dealers during
those years. And it was a pretty hard sell. A 911T sold
for about the same price as a 914-6...and it was a more
recognized sport car than the 'economy' two seater with
its VW connection! In Europe, the 914 (even the 914-6)
had this type of model designation...which didn't help the
marketing for the upscale set!
There were many 914-6 from MY1970 that were left-over
at dealers and didn't sell for months...some a year after it
had arrived. The popularity of the 914-6 has been pretty
constant with hard-core enthusiasts. But the general
collector's market has only started warming up to the
914-6 in recent years, when just about all older Porsches
have shot up in value!

You are looking it right, Jeanrabelais! The 914 is indeed a
very special car that captured well the era in which it was
produced!
I used to own a 1972 914.2 in 'Sunflower Yellow'. Even today
I miss it. And I am now looking to get one as my Scottsdale
winter fun car. I am specifically looking for a 2.0 in 'Zambezi Green', color code 'L64K'. If any of you find one for sale in
your area of the country, please let me know via pm or email.

Because the model & wheels make me think it's a MY1975, I would
guess 'Laguna Blue'. The colors in the old ads often do not appear
very vibrant...but 'Laguna Blue' in person really pops!

By the way, 'Olympic Blue' is currently available as
PTS at Porsche. A friend was able to get his gt4
ordered in this classic 914 vintage color!
^ ouch That is a very vivid description. I will have to think about that one. To me it just looks like Porsche and VW made a car. I want to be able to see it through your eyes though -sounds funny.
