Default 981 Cayman S Build

Does anyone know if Porsche has stopped taking orders for the 981 Cayman S. My local dealer says I'm too late.

Thanks,

JF

I think that is correct. I ordered my Cayman late Dec and had one of the last S allocations. It just got to the states last week. Will be taking delivery later this week.

Now the real question...what's your next move? Buy out of inventory? Find a cpo? Or order a 718?

That's a good question! Existing inventory or 2016 6 speed S, is very low. There are a few configurable base models left and a couple of GTS's. I'm not sold on the 718 at this point.

If anyone knows of an existing inventory 2016 S, 6 speed, not black, red or white with medium options (sports preferred) about $75k MSRP, please let me know.

Thanks,

JF

If you can still configure a gts that would be a good option. Or maybe find a 718 boxster to get a test drive and get an idea how the turbo motor feels and then decide? Best I could find 718s are supposed to be out in June?

My dad has a 2016 boxster gts and with the included sport chrono and sports exhaust it seemed kinda like a deal. Makes me want to sell my 2000 boxster plus every thing else I own and get one!

I test drove a '16 base 981 6-speed on Monday with minimal options, very fun but a little underwhelmed with the performance. I'm going to continue my search for an S, widening it a bit to '14 and '15 cars.
