Post Took delivery of my 2016 Cayman and started a Youtube serie :D

Hello Rennlist!!

I joined the Porsche owner club 3 weeks ago :-D

I've always dreamed about having a Porsche, and even more since I saw my first 981 Cayman at Geneva in 2013. I started sparing two years ago and was first thinking about buying one for my 30th birthday (summer 2017) but when I heard that they were gonna get a flat-4 Turbo, I rushed a bit my decision and ordered one of the last N/A flat-6 Cayman :-D (I'm not trying to start a 981 vs 718 debate here)

It's the base Cayman and has almost no option except the Alcantara steering wheel and a few comfort options (heated seats, folding mirrors, cruise control...). The car is SO MUCH FUN!!! The sound is absolutely glorious, handles like a dream, incredible brakes... I couldn't be happier :-D

Here are a few pics from the delivery day:

I made a video of my delivery day:

I also started a Youtube serie of videos of me driving my favourite mountain roads in Switzerland.
The episode 1 was just with one on-board camera:

The second one has a lot more camera angles

Let me know what you think and subscribe for more :-)

Very nice videos. I think it's great how these cars stir our passions to the point of doing things like making these videos and posting them them for all to see so we can share our excitement. Nice looking car!

Congrats - nice car; there is a lot of value in the standard models, and I still think the 2.7 may be the best sounding flat-6 engine.

Really great sound recording - captures the engine sounds very well.

What type of cameras are you using?

BTW, is there really a possible debate between the 981 and 718? To me that'd be like a debate between fire and kindling

Yeah the sound is incredible, it sounds better than the Cayman S IMO :-)

For the on-board footage and sound recording I use a Panasonic HC-V770 camcorder. For the first 2 videos (Delivery and JustDrive #1) I use the built-in mic, and the last one (JustDrive #2) I'm using a Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro external mic. I'm still not 100% happy with the sound, I have some compression artefacts with the external mic, I'm not sure why, I might have to try another recording format... The best solution would be a separate audio recorder.

Yeah no debate possible for me, but you always found people trying to convince you that the 718 is so much better because it has more power and more torque...

Congratulations, Sylvain44. Good choice on the base model over the S. The gearing is slightly better. You can rev it to the tilt to extract the power and enjoy the beautiful engine note along the way. At some point, you could add X73 and PSE, if you are into it.

Thanks!

For the PSE, I tried it and I'm not a fan. X73 would be nice but as long as I live where I live now, it's not an option or I won't be able to enter my garage due to the smaller ground clearence (it's already pretty close with the stock ones).

New video is up :-) I bought a GoPro Session recently and wanted to try a POV shot. The weather was quite bad these days so I had to stay at low altitude to avoid the snow.
