A review from "ICNU" over on Planet 9 on our protuning

"I wanted to give a shout out to the Fabspeedicon team for my recent Pro tune they did for me this week. I honestly didn't think that I would be able to notice much of a difference, but the car pulled so much harder and smoother through the entire RPM range than it ever has before and I simply love it! I sent the Cobb data log and required documentation on Sunday evening and had the tune in my email waiting for me Monday morning....talk about quick turnaround!

My CS started out stock with the basic Cobb OTS stage 1 which I noticed immediately, and especially when I would remove it for dealer service. Then I installed a set of M&M headers with 200 cell cats, and then finally a Fabspeed TrackTek exhaust along with the Cobb OTS stage 2 tune.

I could detect some torque improvement in the lower RPM range, but nothing really huge at that point and frankly I was a little disappointed considering the price delta to get to that stage 2 point. I warmed my car up, loaded the Pro tune and immediately noticed a big difference in how the car pulled through every gear, and not at just 7K either. It pulls hard even in 4th or 5th gear for passing when already cruising along at 70 MPH at 3500 RPM......no downshifting required at all. Just press the gas and she shoots into triple digits before you realize it.

Im just thrilled with the performance my car has now and the price just cant be beat! One of my local Cobb Pro dyno tuners wanted almost 5 X the cost of the Fabspeed Pro tune, so I am very happy with the choice I made and would suggest anyone considering having it done just do it. Its a bargain compared to what other performance mods on these cars cost, and you will know that you are running a custom tune designed specifically for your cars setup."

Excited for my 991 GTS protune coming up. Just need to find time and space to do some redline runs in third gear!

Sticking with OTS 93 map for the Spyder as it's otherwise unmodified. Only unusual good thing I've noticed after doing that is that the PSE button now seems to do something. Swear the car seems
to put out more low-end torque with valves open now than with them closed.

Is this likely to be my imagination? Anyone else experienced it?

Make it happen man! Pumped to have you running our protune

The different with the valves open is not your imagination as the difference now is greater now between the valves closed/open. Valves closed the system is quite restrictive so you can't really tell the tune is doing much improvement. However with the valves open there is much less restriction, and that is where you can really feel the benefits of the tune and really any other modifications.

For example: When I added Race Headers/Protune to my Cayman R when I had factory PSE, first drive I didn't hit the PSE button. Valves closed it still felt relatively the same as when it was stock because of how restrictive it is, so I was a bit bummed...until I hit 3800rpm and the valves opened and it was a complete "OH SH*T!" moment, like someone hit the button on a shot of nitrous lol. Needless to say I had been using the PSE button much more often after that.

Oh good, glad I'm not going mad. It's a nice addition, actually - kind of like having 6 modes instead of 3.

Should be getting the 911 datalogging done this weekend. One question: I checked 'street/track' on the tuning form because, although I don't track the car, I do rev it out on the street just occasionally, and I want a tune that's focussed on the top end of the rev range - basically smooth out the low-down delivery, which seems a bit lumpy right now, and then give it as many hp as possible.

Street/track sound like the right way to go for that?

Sounds ideal to me, although there is a notes section on the ECU tuning form so copy and paste what you just said in there too so he can tailor it towards that. The more details the better haha.
