Lug Bolts
Gents, if there is one aesthetic blunder on our cars IMO it's the wheel lugs. So in this thread I'm seeking opinions on what others did to address this. On my 986, I painted the lugs, then tried to polyurethane them. Nothing worked long term, even using a piece of saran wrap over the lug nuts when tightening to attempt to preserve the paint and clear coat. So I am wondering what options there are, currently I am considering a set of plastic caps but I'd like to see what others did. Are there any applied coatings that will endure? Would anodizing hold up? Pictures welcome of course.

Look on Suncoast's web site. They have a couple different anodized colors. You could also by titanium but expect to pay about $600 for a complete set. There are a few threads on Rennlist about those. Very nice.

I agree, the lug bolts don't fit in with the rest of the car and really detract from the wheels. I'm planning to get Titanium eventually. The titanium lugs will reduce weight but it's insignificant so the only real advantage is maintaining the strength that Porsche chose for the lugs and the aesthetics.

How much weight do those two piece rotors save? Those look pretty sweet, not sure about the studs and caps, it seems to me Porsche must have a reason for using the lugs plus I am really going to try to keep the spyder as stock as possible. I shot out an email to an anodizing company specializing in extra hard coatings, I'll let everyone know if they quote me.

idk the weight savings of the Giro Disc kit but they are larger diameter as well. There is a megathread on P-9 that covers it all and more hahaha.

RSS themselves seem to tout the heat dissipation more than un-sprung weight savings, especially since the backs are a tad heavier, I could see that for the track but on the street I have better uses for $2,200

I agree, the stock lugs have been bugging me since I got my car. They look like crap. I bought some exhaust tips from Maxspeed that were really well done so I am thinking their titanium lugs are probably very nice as well, though not inexpensive.
