Default Refinishing Cayman S exhaust tips

Had anyone refinished their exhaust tips? I have a 2006 with the trapezoid tips and they look pretty worn. I'd like to shine them up and was considering using a drill with an abrasive wire bit. Has anyone tried something like this?

Thanks

I'd try something less abrasive first. I have polished Fabspeed tips and simple over the counter metallic polish from the auto store does the trick. My point is assuming you haven't already gone down that road, you want to work your way up the abrasive ladder.

you definitely need speed though. If you have brushed metal instead of polished the crud is going to be hard to get off by hand. Maybe one of those powerball type of attachments with the sponge tip.

Took the exhaust tip off the car today and went at it with a sander with 60 grit to start, then up to 150 grit, then some steel wool to finish. Pretty good results. You can see in this photo where I had only done one side.
