Default Hood won't open battery dead Help please!!

Hi guys, I usually hang out in the 928 Forum but today I need help with my 2007 Boxster S. Upon returning from vacation I found the battery completely dead. I cannot pop the hood to get to the battery to charge it. I tried what the manual says first. No luck, Then I tried a portable cigarette lighter charger-nope. I called Porsche and they sent out roadside assist. He put a portable charger on the fuse according to the manual with a spare battery -no. I looked in the wheel wells for manual release cables, no luck.
Any other suggestions?

Brad

Same thing happened to me on my 997S. I used a portable 12V battery booster/inverter box. It has a 12V accessory socket and came with a cable to charge it from a 12V socket on a car (eg male - male).

So I briefly plugged this cable into the cigarette lighter socket - just long enough to pop the frunk latch (and get my key out of the ignition where it was stuck as well).

I had tried a wall-wart charger in the cig lighter without success but this worked. So see if you can get access to something similar.

The exact same thing is happening to me. Which portable 12V battery booster did you use? I assume it has to have a cigarette lighter connection as you can't get to the battery to get the jumper cables that most boosters come with.

Make sure you hold the button on the key fob down until it pops!
