Default DIY center console removal & short shift install guide

For anyone interested a DIY guide for removing the shift ****, center console or short shift kit replacement, here is a guide to help. It's not a particularly difficult job and hopefully this guide will give more confidence to those thinking of tackling the job themselves... or help make decision to pay the pros instead. This is documented off my 987.1, though should be applicable to 997.1 and possibly the .2 cars. Hope this helps others.

Fred I'm fairly certain the procedure is the same. 997 and 987 interiors are identical with a few exceptions (dash/doors).

Lithium thanks for putting this together.

Just out of curiosity, how much more effort is it to replace the shifter cables? Everything I've read says the cables are a weak point in these cars and prone to random failure.

Fred, Afshin is absolutely correct. It's the same procedure in 987.2s. I followed lithium's article to a T and it was absolutely perfect in my SSK installation. Thank you, once again, to lithium (if you're still reading this............).
