Default PDK clutch fluid - 987.2 Cayman R

I would like to re-fresh/change the clutch fluid in my PDK Transmission and I don't have access to PIWIS. Is there a known working safe procedure that fellow members can help/advise, please.

I've looked into this and cannot find a solution other than my race shop willing to do it for much less than the dealer.

I've looked into this as well and it seems that the only safe way to change it is via PIWIS since there is a "fill mode" the car must enter to change most of the fluid. My dealer quote ~$500. The gearbox oil is separate. I'll probably do it for peace of mind.

There has got to be a way someone like Durametric could figure out fill mode. My car blew a trans cooler line at the track and I had to take it to the shop. Not because the line wasn't something I couldn't fix it was filling the darn transmission!!! So frustrating with these cars.

It seems that the only solution is to find a shop with, and familiar with the PIWIS process. In searching, we found that more than a few shops have not have much experience with this process.

I scheduled the service for next week. Interestingly, the 981/991 does not have a filter for the PDK like the 987 did (which was integrated into the clutch oil sump). The fluid is $30+/liter, and it holds 5+ liters, so parts alone is nearly $200 with tax. The dealer claimed it would take a few hours. Hopefully the change will cure my "slipping" at WOT at the end of track sessions.

For those that seriously track their PDK Cayman, the transmission can eventually fail as I have been told. Not going into/delayed reverse was an indicator for one due to solenoid issues. Also, rebuilds are not on the table so hopefully, a flush will return the unit back to normal performance!

That's not what I heard from BGB Motorsports when I asked about the PDK and tracking my car with it. They say it's tough and reliable for tracking use in 981 cars. The 987 cars may need to add an external heat exchanger (which they sell a kit for) to help keep the gearsets cool. Also used on 987 manual gearbox cars.

Same. 981 PDK is known to be quite reliable on track. That is not to say they cannot fail, but they're pretty stout. Some members on here have 50-75 track days on the stock PDK with no services that are still running fine.

I have 9 track days on mine at 28,750 miles and PDK has kept on ticking just fine. No oil leaks from it so far either. Plan to do at least 8 more track days this year.

I hope to be back in the 8-10+ per year camp again soon. Did 4 last year on my 981S, now at 26k miles, running well other than slipping at WOT after 15-20 min into the session. Hoping the clutch fluid swap fixes that.

The car subjectively shifts smoother now, to me at least. The dealer did not note a problem with the original fluid level, and charged me for 5 liters. The process took a while, but I had a loaner. $450 or so after tax out the door. Probably worth thinking about, especially for those who track the cars. The dealer said 6 years is recommended spec even for non-tracked cars. My 2014 is already 5 years old, being manufactured in 2013.
