As a data point, there was a 987 Cayman S, MT, 14k miles, SC, adaptive sport seats, in incredible shape that was involved in an accident up for sale not too long ago locally. It went for $39,000, and had required a new hood: a truck had backed into it when parked. A small issue like that probably pushed the car down from $44k, so 12%.

Bigger accident? Maybe 20%. But don't shy away, just get the information on the accident and what was repaired. Also, how good the repairs were. Plenty of nice cars are for sale here on the forums that have a carfax blem, and if the repairs were done well, so what? Save some money.

It's true that a dealer isn't required to volunteer damage information when shipping unless the repairs exceed a threshold value which varies by State, but a dealer is required to answer truthfully if you ask if your car has been damaged in transit, regardless of how small the damage.

The only time I'd knowingly buy a damaged / repaired car is if I knew first hand the exact way it was repaired, which is probably only possible if you knew the original owner and they shared all pictures of the repair/damage/bills related. Otherwise, it's a complete gamble, and even at a 25% discount would not be enough to sway me to purchase it.

Agree with the other people saying there are too many 981s for sale now that aren't damaged for you to settle for one that is.
