2013 Boxster S DE & AX wheels
I'm a former 996 owner/thread contributor and lost my 2 996's in the Houston floods. I just purchased a used 2013 Boxster S w/ 30k miles so I can get back on the track and hang out over here with you fine folks. It came w/ beautiful 20" wheels and PZero tires that I'd like to keep perfect for my wife puttering around and weekend cruising. I'm on TireRack looking at 18" OZ wheels for 3-4 autocross' and 3-4 HPDE's per year. TireRack gives me the option of 18x8 Front/18x9 Rear OR 18x8.5F/18x10R. Is there any reason I wouldn't go with the wider wheels for the track?
TIA for your feedback and opinions and I hope to become a regular contributor on this forum.

Wider the merrier. When I was competitively autocrossing with the SCCA, I would mount 10" wheels on my Miata by cutting the fenders (allowed by the rules for my class). 8.5/10 should fit the 981 without any modifications.

I have 19x8.5 F and 19x10 R Oz Leggera purchased from Tire Rack on my car when not on track (use standard BS wheels for track) and I have no issues. I wish they were a bit wider if no rubbing would occur, say 1/2" F and R with as much offset as possible to increase track width without rubbing on fenders.
