Definitely an option for those with the 3.8

I have a Cayman GTS, however, so I am lacking some literage

I think you're being optimistic. The 718 is more expensive than a 981 in all models. If they put the 4.0L six with 400HP in the Spyder, I think the base price will exceed $100K.

I agree. I'm expecting up to around $120K with various "unnecessary" options. And that car with that engine will stand on its own, at least IMO, so I for one wouldn't worry about cross shopping/comparing to 911s in that price range.
Let's hope we all find out the truth soon.

It would be awesome if we get 8k! Keep talking to your Cleaning Lady and share! :-) Are we looking spring or fall of '18 for launch?

Nice! Any mention of a gearing change? More rpm w/o shorter gearing would just make the car even leggier. I don't think they changed the gearing from the 981 to the 718....

Update: 420 HP info was for GT4, so expect 10-15 HP less for the Spyder.

Boxster sits above Cayman. That hierarchy is likely to continue with Spyder/GT4. So, I expect the Spyder to be on parity with GT4 in power levels. The prototypes are already sporting same wheel/tire setup; and, the suspension seems (in terms of ride height) same as well.

Are you sure about the Hp difference?
Prior to the 718 I would agree... but since then all 718 models have been equal.
Spy pics indicate that the Spyder and GT4 will be closer performance wise with brakes and suspensions?
Time will tell I guess.

Hope so! It will help 981 owners. $102k would be a similar jump that we saw from 987.2 to 981 Spyder.

The best possible thing for 981 Spyder owners would be if they DON’T put the big NA 6 in it.
I’m on my dealer’s list for one, but only if it has “that” engine. I suspect lots of folks feel the same way. 400+ HP in a Boxster would be fun.

I'm already first on a reliable dealer list and look forward to hearing the official announcement. I can't imagine I won't swap for my '16 Spyder, however, am I the only one that likes the rear of the '16 better than the rear of the new one seen in the spy photos?
