Default Fog Light not working...only when car is on

2007 Cayman...

If I turn my lights on while the car is off, both of the circular fog lights illuminate. However, if I start the car and turn on the lights, the passenger's side fog light remains off. Not sure why. Doesn't seem like there would be 2 bulbs in there, but maybe, and one is burnt out? Perhaps some other kind of setting? Or electrical issue?

Looks like this guy had a similar issue, but no replies there: https://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-...-on-stuck.html

Would appreciate any insight!

From another forum:

Porsche tech had to do the following:

(no fault codes were INITIALLY found)

1: headlights needed to be recalibrated (maybe due to previous owner lowering)

2: once the headlights were recalibrated to level the computer showed fault codes

3: tech reset lighting fault codes which restored fogs and trunk light.

He said that if the headlights come out of alignment the default for the computer is to shut down the non essential lights. Strange but it fixed my issue. Hope this helps someone else out there.
Was this a CPO car? Have you brought it to a dealer?

No, purchased new and owned since 2007. Something like this happened a long while back...

I just took it in to my mechanic for a 75k service and some other stuff, and mentioned the fog light to him, but forgot to follow up on it and check when I took the car back. However, just called him and he said there's nothing wrong with the light, or wiring, but rather that he thinks it's some weird setting. So, I'm going to poke around on the dash computer and see if I can find anything to this effect... will report back if I'm successful.

Your mention of what the Porsche tech had to do is really interesting. I'm going to double check if my trunk light is coming on. I think it is...

Do you have a durametric cable?

Wondering if you can test the fog lights with it or not. I have one, but I've never tried to play with the fog lights. I can check tonight if you'd like.
