Does anyone have experience or thoughts about upgrading the stock sound system? I have a 718S and would have gotten the Bose option but alas my car has the base sound system. I think (but could be wrong) that upgraded sound systems have speakers directly behind the seats (the base system does not...). Could I put speakers there and get better sound?? Very much appreciate the input!

I've owned a convertible since the the late seventies, in general if you put the sound behind the seats it blows right out the back when the top is down, that's why IMO they placed the speakers forward.

I'm not a big fan of Bose; I think more can be achieved with spending "Bose money" or even less.
IMO--Go to a professional car sound guy that's familiar with Porsche and other European cars and spend wisely.

^ Agree with Greg, BOSE is marketing hype. Speakers are subjective, however IMO, their vaunted home systems in my opinion are completely outgunned by the Paradigm towers I purchased instead. I'm not up on the car audio at all but if I was starting from scratch I'd check out Polk speakers.

Agree with Greg, go to a specialist and have them install a system for you.

i upgraded from sound systemm plus to a pioneer app radio, Blam compo set (front only) and e rear view camera.

the Blam setup works great using the factory amp! Sounds is way better than what bose has to offer.

I upgraded my 987.2 S that came with stock radio. Put in a Pioneer head unit (with Nav) and left speakers, etc. the same. Sounds better than my new 2016 CS with Bose.
