My iPhone 6 does not automatically start playing music when connected via the lightning cable. Is this SOP? It did auto play in my 2014 MB and I liked that feature.

If you had the iTunes app launched before plugging/powering in, then it usually starts playing (I use an iPhone 6). For some reason or another, Spotify will not start playing (Bluetooth audio will), however if it's the powered lightening adapter, it automatically starts playing whatever iTunes wants to.
I hope that helps. If anyone has a suggestion to have Spotify play straight away, please chime in, I'm not a fan of Apple music.
