Added Another Spider
After a hard debate I opted to sell the RS while still drawing a premium. Car became too expensive to track with carbon fenders, and very expensive repairs. Decided to get the a car I’ve wanted for years, and the sound is awesome. I had a choice to sell the Spyder or the RS which I can always get another it wanted.

Thanks guys this thing sounds insane. What’s interesting 488’s are being dumped with values dropping the turbo didn’t do over to with some core owners. I sold my RS which went above MSRP, and covered the Ferrari and some cash. It was nice when I came home the wife said ok how much this time .....I said well I have a check and cool car. She likes the F car better than the purple RS, but my 22 year old said dad keep the RS. When the F car came home he changed his mind. I’m really debating do I get another RS, if you’re not going to track it it’s hard to get the full benefit. Don’t get me wrong it’s fun! Spent two hours with a clay bar and some good wax it’s gorgeous.

Regarding the RS, I really don’t get wanting to track a street car. Especially one that is so expensive. For less than the value of that RS, someone could purchase a really nice reconditioned Cup car that would run circles around the RS on track and be much safer. And there would be $ left over for the tow rig! So you made the right call switching the RS for the F car.

Congrats and welcome to the white 458 spider club, although I like your interior better!!
Honestly can't think of a more fun car. Wait to you wind her out with the roof retracted - spine tingling!

Mav: Congrats!!!. She is a beauty. I agree on tracking the RS. My friends always bug me to bring the RS out to the track. My son pointed out a fender replacement on the RS is $14,000.00. They are fast but to truly get optimum performance you need to set the front camber more aggressively.
I also would love to get an older Cup but they are also very expensive to run and a rebuild is $25K easy. If you have a crush box/sequential in the newer cups that also needs a periodic rebuild....$15K.
Bought a 2012 Boss 302 Trans Am TA 3 for $70K two years ago. If I bugger up a fender, which I have, its $400.00 for a replacement, $250 for painting and stripes and away I go. Plus goes like stink (runs 57's at Lime Rock, 2:04 at Watkins...with my son driving..not me ) plus looks awesome.

Yup, I’ve read threads on the Racing forum in which hourly Cup running costs was discussed. We are talking in the $2k/hour range. My point could have been better made suggesting a dedicated track car, that fits within your budget. The cost savings may or may not be there, but a car set up for track will always handle better than a dual street/track car. Plus the added safety of the dedicated track car makes it a no brainer. Especially when considering the speeds attainable with an RS. Even in my lowly 986S I feel so much safer being ensconced in a rugged cage.

Very smart move and a good choice! The Ferrari will be a much more entertaining street car and it’s a stunning color combo.
I agree with everyone else’s comments, if you’re not going to track the RS there really isn’t much of a point in having it. And if you are going to track it you need to be prepared for the high maintenance and repair costs should you have a mishap. Going with a less expensive track car makes tons more sense unless your ok blowing $30k a year. If/when I get to the point that I have more time I will likely get a 987.1 cayman and have it prepped for track use. Another thought is an NA Miata but then I need to start over with finding the right people to work on it.
Enjoy the new ride in good health!
