Default New to the 718 what exhaust should I go for?

Hello everyone!

Looking for some feedback. I am looking to grab an exhaust for my 718s but options seem to be limited. What's the popular system to check out? Are headers worth considering? I just want more audio.

Thanks!!

Congratulations. Looks pretty cool next to M4! Good choice of contrasting colors! If you don't want to get PSE (Porsche Sports Exhaust), my preference would be Akrapovic. They make nice deep growl. I don't think their 982 version is out yet. However, I am not sure how would they sound with 982's turbo. Fab Speed, AutoQuest, forum sponsors, are making headers and exhaust. You could check on the sponsor list. If you search the forum, could find past threads.

And, do share your driving and overall impressions.

Thank you for the feedback!

The 718s feels just as quick if not maybe a little quicker with launch control on straightaways (top end will probably be a different story). Feels like a true sports car (feels special) haha while the M4 is more of a touring well rounded car. Now when I need to drive around town I don't even consider the M. Waiting for my wife's P car to be build/shipped that's probably when I'll get rid of the M.

Am currently driving a 718 as a loaner while the GT4 is serviced and have to say I really like the car, would be great as a DD or fun car. However (and I don't want to start a bashing thread) Porsche has got to do something with the exhaust! The AWE exhaust in the video sounds really good to me why can't they do that? When driving with the stock one anywhere between idle and 5K (between 5 and & 7K sounds decent) I can't help but flash back to my HS days in my 63 bug with a 1914 CC and dual Webbers! I also have noted that the stock exhaust sounds better outside the car than inside

I honestly would leave the stock exhaust on this car. The 718 is better than our 981s in some regards, but exhaust sound is not one of them. PSE drones even when off, so it has to be worth it. I personally don't like just noise for the sake of noise, but to each his own, I guess. A Subaru with their STi exhaust sounds way nicer, but Porsche chose to make it different in a bad way, as noted above. But yes, that exhaust above definitely sounds better than PSE. On the 981, PSE is the best option by far, but guess Porsche has been perfecting H-6 sound for decades. Good luck.

The videos on your site for the three different versions are helpful, but do you have decibel readings for each, so we can get a sense for the volume of each?

I would guess it goes: Switchpath-closed < touring version < Switchpath-open < track version as far as the relative volume. Is that correct?

Is there any performance gain/effect from having the switchpath open as opposed to closed?

I would wait to see what Akrapovic does for 982. Their systems are always top notch. By the way, that Cayman above is sporting pretty high profile tires; the rims are probably 18s. And, FileTitan, the wheels perfectly match the Racing Yellow! Looks pretty awesome.

Give Fabspeed a call. Their website is http://www.fabspeed.com/team/. Your contact there would be Phillip Janssen. He can be reached at 888-646-4945 or 215-646-4945. Their exhausts for the new 718 (w/ or w/o headers) are excellent. I have personally heard them. They are located around 20mi north of Philadelphia. I can literally walk to either AWE Tuning or Fabspeed from my home - prettry convenient. Either does good work. Good luck.

I appreciate the referral Henry : )

OP, I know your car quite well and was personally involved in the 718 aftermarket exhaust development. It would be a pleasure to chat with you a bit and help educate you on the options out there and what will best meet your goals. PM sent, and I love your car!
