Default Heat affecting leather on dash leading to replacement

My dash was replaced under warranty as the leather airbag cover starting to show streaks in it. Has anybody else had this? The only thing I can say is that I was running Clearplex windscreen protection film and maybe it was trapping extra heat in the car?

It is a 2016 car and was done when it was 12 months old, so it had one summer.

Looks like an issue with the selection of leather for that part or a process or adhesive issue during manufacturing of the covered part. The leather on other parts of the dash looks new. Does Clearplex claim to block UV and/or radiant heat from passing into the car?

I have Llumar Air 80 on the inside of my BS windshield, and a 35% tint on other windows. Product documentation for Air 80 says it blocks 45% of heat coming in the car and 99% of UV. The car is noticeably cooler when I get in after it's been parked outside all day at my office compared to similar weather days before I had it installed.

I tend to agree that it's likely a defect from the factory. I also have clearplex on my windshield and haven't noted any issues with the leather at all. I'm coming up on 7 years now and it looks perfect stil....knock on wood.

I don't recall seeing it when the car was new. Being a small panel it will be affected by the heat more than the rest of the dash.

It looks to be like a bad piece of leather was used.

I'm not a huge upholstery guy, but I've had a conversation or two with a few. I've been told that leather will shrink over time. If the leather has been scarred, from branding or other reasons, the rate of shrinking can vary. As a result, the areas that have been scarred will become more visible.

While it is difficult to see when new, exposure to the sun will slowly reveal the scarred portions over time.

Just a guess....from my limited knowledge.
