Permanent indentation marks on 981 Spyder top?
Hot on the heels of my village idiot thread, I have a question for fellow 981 Spyder owners that I haven't been able to answer from searching...
My soft top has four permanent indentation marks (two on each side) where the soft rubber pads underneath the trunk lid contact the fabric when it's retracted.
I'm the second owner of the Spyder in question, and received the car this way (the seller disclosed it — a Rennlister who was awesome to work with). He always stored the car with the top closed, and so do I, so I'm a bit surprised that these wear marks would show so quickly on a car that's only ~1.5 years old and has just ~4,300 miles on the odometer.
If abnormal — is it worth speaking with my SA about a warranty replacement? And would that even be advisable, given the new top may not fit quite right, or any other unforeseen quirks I might face with a replacement top..?
Thanks as always for everyone's generous advice!

Not sure the above is caused by the top not being 100% manual. The only portion that's electronic is the locking mechisim, and this is caused by the storage which is all manual. What am I missing?

My top is older than that and has zero distinguishable marks on it. Additionally, the manual top can be stored in a myriad of positions in regard to where the roll contacts the storage spot or even out of the car. I must be mistaken by how the new top functions but if it's still a manual roll up why the exacting marks?

That makes sense, but your prior assessment with the top being mechinical has no effect on operations. I would assess the material design of the top or the pressure where it's stored, and none to do with the mechinical locking procedure. I've only had the car since July and have closed the top once, and my view it's mechinical 99% and the one push of the button locks it 1%. The circles are much smaller than the pic show and can only be seen when close to the top. Non deal for me because I never close the top unless I got caught in the rain. I bought the car with the entent to have the top down 100% of the time. Not sure we answered the OP question, but I do see this as not fixable unless they replace the top with a different fabric?

I don't think it's repairable now without a complete dye job of the entire top. Before it manifested I would have tried a microfiber over both circles. Does the top fold repeatedly in the same discreet spot? That's what it looks like the registration of the marks is so perfect it seems that's the only way that could happen.

It will be ok. I inspected the top if you rub your hand over the circles you it feel the crease. It appears to be some sort of reenforcement, and the pressure of the top causes the circles. It's not mechanical, and honestly you only see it when you stare at it.
