Let's Talk LWBs - Quickly

THIS WORKS: I have a 2011 Spyder with LWB's.
Pull up the bottom seat cushion. Then custom cut half inch thick firm carpet pad to the shape of the bottom of the seat with as many layers as you think are needed. This not only provides additional padding but also raises one up in the seat slightly higher. For me at 5 foot 7 inches, in allowed the shape of the back of the seat to conform better to my back, effectively giving me more lumbar support way down low on my back. It's a totally transparent and cheap mod. No one will see it and it can be removed or replaced easily.

My wife and I did an 8 hour trip in the Spyder not long after I bought it and the LWB's were never a point of concern. We both found the seats to be very comfortable and she fell asleep for an hour on the way back home. I know she wouldn't hesitate to go on a long trip in the Spyder and I have done several longer drives with no issues. I will say that staying in shape helps with the entry/exit but that's not a bad thing.
Good luck, hope you get the car!

Good luck in getting the car! You made the right decision.
Wife and I did ED driving down into Italy and back. Number of long days driving and we (yes including the wife) had no issues.
You are right they are a little upright, but I only notice it when I get out and into another car when it then feels too laid back.
I'm in the South Bay if you ever want to check the seats out.
What details can you share on the prospect??

My plan is to drive it a while with the LWBs as is. If I have any issues, I'm going to first try the add padding and/or change angle approach (i.e., Dr. Bill's link). My guess is that I quickly adjust to them stock and just keep them as is, because I tend to like firm and upright. No way to tell until I put some miles on it.
Closing the deal on Monday. I'll post up some pics once all the wire/paperwork is done.

Yup, I will be in touch if the angle of the seat doesn't suit me. Won't have the car for a few weeks though.

Thanks. Looking very forward to owning one of these again. While I was seriously bummed at having to sell my first one, I think I much prefer this color and spec, so it all worked out in the end. At least for everything but my bank account. Had to pay a healthy premium to get this 43 mile car. But it still comes out way less than the .2 GT3 I was hoping for and will be a much better street car for my intended use.

The GT3 will undoubtedly be very special, but at the Spyder's lower price point, as you say, it will be tough to find another street car that can match what it has to offer. The sound, braking, engine, suspension, balance, handling, storage capacity, drop-dead looks, and top-down ability make for a compelling package. Smart buy IMO, even at a bit of a premium.
