Hmm the bumpers look a bit....VWish. Almost like they stole some design cues from the Golf R....
Horsepower increase should make this a very fast car.

IMO:. Looks great, and would be tempting if I didn't have a 981 Spyder. Maybe sell my GT500 and get a 718 Cayman GTS instead....... Probably faster and more fun than a base 911.

Looks HORRIBLE IMO. Somehow modernized w/o the class and elegance that the 981 model line had. I hope the GT4 looks better otherwise I'll have to cancel my order and get something else.

I really feel that the 981 is probably going to be the pinnacle of the 2 seater sports car.
I now own a 987BS gen2 and a 981 Spyder.
The 981 build quality / solidness is great, way above the 987.
The ride, handling, power, noise are all a big step up.
Only the steering could be a downside (but I'm not too fussed).
I believe as each new model is now launched, more and more green eco compromises are effecting that pure sports car model.
Given the choice of a more powerful 718 GTS or a S/H 981 GTS, I honestly would go 981.
I'm very fortunate to have bagged a Spyder from new, so am a happy boy.
Will the next 718 Spyder be as good ??? Time will tell.
But I have a feeling I might be happier keeping mine and modding the engine to release some more fun. :-)
Don't get me wrong, the 718 is still a great car..... just IMHO possibly not as great as its predecessor.

You're kidding? Will the new Spyder be as good as the 981 Spyder? The current Boxster 718 S matches the performance of the 981 Spyder. Depending on what tires Porsche uses, the upcoming 718 GTS will likely match the performance of the 981 based GT4.
You think that Porsche is going to release a 718 based Spyder or GT4 that will be a step backwards in performance from the current generation Spyder and GT4?
Here's the problem with passionate car ownership - there's always something better coming. It's how they feed our addiction. Example: I owned a r8 V10 - who would have thought that a 4 cylinder entry level Porsche could match or exceed the 'ring time of that 540 hp beauty.

I didn't ask if the new 718 Spyder will be more powerful !!
Of course it will ......
I had a drive out in a 718 base PDK and that was a flying machine...
I'm talking about the full package.
I don't need an extra 50hp on my daily commute, or my next Euro tour.
But I don't want a turbo engine, or auto start stop, etc..
I think if the next Spyder keeps its NA engine it could be a cracker.
But surely next stop after this one is hybrid / electric etc.. :-(

Still looks ugly.
The Boxster/Cayman GTS trim has always been a bit of a joke IMO. Some ugly plastic bits added outside, overdone interior with alcatara and loud stitching everywhere, and a negligible HP boost.

981, 991.1, last gen cayenne were the very last classic designs IMO. Look at the new Panamera. Looks AWESOME if you ask me, much better than the last version. But those design elements are unique to a sedan IMO. Even the sport turismo looks odd if you ask me. Now when you try to peel those design elements over to the sports cars then you're going to have a lot wanting in design and aesthetics. Look at the whole 781 series. Yikes. GTS that? Not any better. Too bad. I was excited about my GT4 but depending what it looks like might not take it anymore if they keep this nonsense up.
