Default 2018 Government Inspection Delay

The 2018 model year vehicles that have been delivered to US entry ports are delayed due to US government inspection. From what I know the Panamera model line has received US government approval and is being released for delivery to dealers. I am curious who is waiting for a 2018 vehicle, what they have been told by their dealer, or PCNA, and what has been provided in terms of compensation.

Compensation? Delays happen all the time. Not sure why you would be compensated unless you had a contract with a specific delivery date which most if not all dealers would avoid. I would hold tight and be patient.

It's not just Porsche. It's all foreign 2018 vehicles.

When the government sticks their nose in something, it's bound to get messed up!

I agree with regard to compensation, but it doesn't hurt to ask. After reviewing other forums I found a thread on the 718 forum with regard to the delay. Some people that posted comments referenced that Porsche Canada was sending letters to customers that were waiting for a vehicle and a $500 voucher. Other comments referenced the frustration with the fact that Porsche has run into the same unexpected delay two years in a row.

My Panamera (2018) is still showing Aug 4th delivery (moved up from 8/25)... My dealer isn't hearing anything about a delay.

Anyone hearing anything new?

Just heard from the head of a large dealer. They released the 2018s today. He said the invoices just came through. He said I will have mine at or before delivery date!

I'm not at all surprised given VWs exhaust problems. Same reaction with Bank regulators after the financial crisis. Egg on face.

Thank you for the update and information. If you don't mind me asking are you located on the east or west coast? I ask because California has some of the strictest emissions regulations and it can longer for residents of CA to get their vehicles approved.
