I wanted to have a set of wheels/tires for autocrossing and purchased a set of 19" from Tirerack of the cheapest wheels I could find which they state fit the car as it was just for weekend track use. The wheels are Starke with a front offset of 52mm and rear offset of 43mm.
The problem I have is the fronts, and rears do not fit within the fenders like the stock wheels. The fronts seem to protrude outside the fenders. Tirerack insists that they are ok but I am concerned if this will be an issue as the suspension compresses. Any thoughts? Thanks
You left out one important piece of information--what are the widths of the wheels? Same as stock?
Sorry should have mentioned that. Front is 8.5" width and rear is 9.5" width. I went from 20" stock to 19" for track use. I am not 100% sure of the stock width for the 19" rims but the 20" rims that came off the car are 8.5" front and 10" rear.

Your wheels should be fine.
I have 5 mm spacers on mine all around on the 20 inches and they are still within the fenders.
Im curious where you came up with this info...I thought both the 19" and 20" stock 981 wheels were 8" +57 up front and 9.5" +45 on the rears.
Yes you are also correct. There are multiple wheel sets that will fit the 981 family. The standard offsets can vary with wheel widths and type.
20 inch wheel sets are available for the 981 in 10 inch widths hence the slightly decreased ET of 50 on the 10 inch versus the 9.5 inch (basically with a plus 0.5 inch width it would result in a 12.5/2= 6.25 mm decrease in ET, so 5 mm is pretty close)
I run my 20 X 10J rear ET 50 with a 15mm spacer for the track and am right at the fender line.
