https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...84d4acd84e.jpg Hi, i change my exhaust system, And its fine but between 2k-3k rpm i Got drone idk Why :( i post picture for any1 who try help me :) |
not sure why the drone, but those are some ugly welds.
|
many aftermarket systems have a drone ......some worse than others ....just about all more than oem. live with it or go back to stock ....and regain your low end torque you lost
|
Which exhaust system is that? I can't make out the writing on the left muffler.
For the record, drone in that RPM range is not unusual in aftermarket exhausts. Some companies do a good job of managing it, but others get 'exhausting' real quick. ;) |
And sometimes you don't even realize how bad the drone is until after the drive.
Put a Borla on an S4 I once owned. It sounded great in the higher rpms, but droned around 2k. I tolerated it while driving. But after the 15-minute highway commute to work, I'd be literally nauseous sitting at my desk. Ringing ears. Headache. FWIW, Borla did not take back the exhaust, despite their "great sound, zero drone" claims. Took an $800 bath when I sold it, only a week old. |
+1
Drone is a fact of life in aftermarket exhaust. More or less depending on the brand. Those companies are achieving (claimed) power gains and providing the sound you think you want by eliminating chambering and noise dampening. The solution is to have your OEM exhaust put back on. |

I have a 987.2 CS that I recently fitted fabspeed race headers and supercup exhaust.
First I did just the race headers and kept the stock exhaust. Nice increased growl and engine revved freer. No drone. Then I put on the Supercups. The thing snarls and screams like a banshee at high rpm. The drone at 2K to 3K rpm is ridiculous. The car is not drivable on the street like this. |

OP - it's not so much as you having a drone problem, it's that your aftermarket exhaust wasn't designed to eliminate it. No option other than going back to stock. |

RPI sells silencers, which are essentially plugs that narrow the aperture of the exhaust tips. With one silencer in each tip, the exhaust quieted down to a nice level. But I'm sure at that point the exhaust system was sapping power. |

What flavor S4? I had the APR exhaust on my B8 S4 and if there was any drone, it was negligible.

It's for this reason I won't even consider an aftermarket exhaust for my 2014 CS PDK. Maybe the PSE if one comes along used for the right price... |
Even the Porsche PSE has a bad drone so much so I have a stock exhaust ready to put on. 2014 CS PDK

No affiliation here... I €™m a fan of Fabspeed maxflow. Had it on 987.2 and now on the 981. Zero drone in any rpm range and great sound. These were 6MT if that helps.
