968 sub forum? What happened?
#16
Did the pic work ?
Well I'm new. Having BMW's, Mercs and even Audi's I'd never been "into" Porsche's but who could resist a cheap Porsche located up North of NZ to play with?
Ex Japan '92, colour to sample Limon, Tiptronic, black interior in great condition.
No rocket ship but what a quality car. Just had belts etc done, now just to be used - with 17 year old son begging for it
I've skimmed thru many many of the posts on here over the last few months learning about them.
I'm sort of hoping i don't have problems to have to ask for help on if you follow my drift ...
Great forum thank you, regards Julian

That's very close to a Summer Yellow 968 floating around in the States someplace,
which i believe also happens to be the only Summer Yellow 968 in existence...
and was also color-to-sample?

Seems like 968 people are "special"! Almost "cultists".
The 968 seems to be the Speedster, 914-6, 74-75 Carrera, early 911, of the era.
Loyalty, exclusiveness, smugness, camaraderie all just a bit more present in the 968 community. Of course, mostly, if not vastly, unappreciated by the rest of the Porsche world. If only they knew and that is precisely why we are who we are and so exclusive. Cuz only we know.
I had owned 30 Porsches including all those mentioned above before I found out thanks to Jim Pasha. Once bit, I was a slave to the 15 968s that followed. Each one special, if not when it arrived, then certainly when it left.
I have but one left and may have to part with it soon. That will be a day nearly as sad as the day SY Cab #7 went away.
In the meantime, I search the ads every day, like always. I visit the websites every day, like always. I watch you guys rescue dead cars, race 'em, brag about them, swap info and stories and admire and understand and look forward to every word.
968 the second best "find" in my lucky life.
Boeing717, Jerry, thanx, you have inadvertently created a very passionate thread.

Pick one. It (or they) is (are) listed.
1. Woman
2. IRS is on to me
3. Old age
4. SS ran out
5. Lost my 12 car garage and can't give up the Acura collection
6. Have a huge offer for it
7. It attracts too much attention from the unsavory (and semi savory)
8. The Boxster more practical daily driver
9. Can't flat tow it. (If someone can tell me how, I will keep it.)
10. Needs a 120,000 service (that costs more than a new one)
11. Arash insists on driving it from time to time
12. GF thinks its too flashy
13. Paparazzi
14. Raj wants to shrink it and encase it in a plastic box on his mantel
15. I saw a brown recluse in it and can't find someone who will drive it in for the service
16. Jeff checked the VIN and said it doesn't exist.
17. Jay says he can use parts of it (but not all) to make a real car.
18. Pete will put it on the cover of 000 but only if I wash it (ain't happening)
Add additional choices here

If you are talking about the second to last coupe, we figured out a few years ago that the color is B3 Sun Yellow which does look similar to the cab. Very neat cab. Thanks for posting.

In no particular order:
1. I don't drive it that much
2. Sold my 968 race car
3. My M030 shocks are shot and the ride beats me and need to get them rebuilt
4. My 968 needs a paint job
5. Most of the time it's easier to just jump into the Cayenne.

Hi the "colour to sample" code for my cab (above) is 10w or B1 I believe. Limonen-gelb which google translates to Lime - yellow. A 1986-88 colour according to this link.

I do a lot of searching for 968 info and I get a lot of old threads on Rennlist back in the early to mid 2000's where LOTS of 968 owners are having really good discussions about suspension and engines and all kind of interesting stuff. Now it's like 6-8 people and cheesy posts like "hey look at my new gear shift ****"
For those who have been in this sub forum a long time why do you think it's died down? Or has it?

there are 3 popular 968 forums–and also this sub forum....
yes; why is this one so marginalized, when the other RL subforums are the dominant meeting places for their respective models??
was there once a thriving forum full of enthusiastic contributors here? that's a good question;
unfortunately, the answer might get the secret mods in a panic and incite the ban hammer.
but, there are always clues. and; it ain't because 1 particularly crass member decided to rip out the 3.0 i-4 and shoehorn a precision crafted V8 engine.

I'm always lurking and reading new post but have always found the info I needed by searching and not needing to make a new post. Ever since completing the turbo build I spend more time on the 951 sub forum due to the fact I have a lot of 951 parts with my 968 turbo.

funny that there has been so few responses to your provocative question.

What are the other "three" 968 forums? I found one - but seems like you have to be a member just to read it.

Jerry if you want to see site explode try posting some good used parts I got me first 968 back in the late 1990s and have had one on and off for all thees years. It is my option that if you ever owned one you found a sweet spot in the Porsche family and you eventually come back. It has happened to me again as I build a 968 race car and park my 996 Cup Cars in the garage

I appreciate your effort to stir things up and breathe some life into the forum. I, too, find a lot of the answers I need through search but will make more of an effort to participate in discussions. This only works if we all contribute.
