Hard core Porsche collectors refuse to have anything but a spotless carfax. That's just the way it is. Unless you're paying scrap value. Here's a prime example.

Just curious, who is hardcore? Is Bruce Canepa? Blackhawk? Arolla? Seinfeld? You? Me? Anybody on this site? Do you think there are no total loss or salvage cars in any of those collections? How do you know? Do you really think Canepa with his ability cares what Carfax says? I say he doesn't.
Is Matador hard core collectible? Or just a damn nice car in the future that should command top dollar?
Is a collectible 968 worth $40k or $25k?
and what is your answer to the value and desirability of a Raj or Jay sorted car?
and how will that change in the future when a salvage car is sorted by an expert and better than yours or mine?
The Porsche Museum. Do you think it is hardcore? If so, here is a fact for you. A green 1956 A coupe is rather prominent there. Once was a salvage. A guy with a ton of money and 2 great restorers created a car so fine that the Museum traded for it and gave the owner the very first 911SC Cabrio to ever set foot in the USA. See "A Teutonic Fairy Tale" in a back issue of Panorama.

It's funny how it works. Barn finds and abandoned cars are hot right now. Porsche buyers don't want cars with tainted Carfax reports with accidents, air bag deployment and odometer discrepancies. Unless they are paying scrap value. Maybe when Porsches built in the 90's will be 50 years old things will be different

Who is a Porsche buyer? How do you define that?

Porsches that are expensive. The buyers are finicky. Different buyer than the guy looking basic transportation.

Bill,

Just one person's opinion and that is all. I wouldn't worry about it. I wouldn't hesitate buying your car if I was in the market. I value the collectors details and production info over all else. And I'm a 23 year Porsche buyer!

Thanx Jeff, I recognize that I was getting a bit edgy. Intervention appreciated.

Agreed. Also carfax is not always 100% accurate and once they make a mistake, good luck getting it cleaned.
As stated, I would put more value on the car and its condition than a stupid report that can and has been inaccurate.

Default Something fishy with this one...?

Never knew that a SC was 'stock' equipment on the 968...

That add is so bizarre because the car and ad looks great but that part looks so shady it almost ruins any goodwill due to the weirdness of replicating a window sticker. It'd be fine if they just said it was just a fun way of listing options and mods all at once but how it's presented makes it a strange choice.

Anything special about this cab? My next door neighbor (our best friends) found it for sale. 1993 968 last 4 is 0277.

If you have any questions about it, I can answer it as it's my car. That window sticker template is very common, in fact it originated here on Rennlist and you can download it here. It's just a fun way to show what has been done to the car when it's being shown at car shows. I wouldn't have expected people to think a non Porsche part was installed at the factory, if you feel I need to call that out, I can.

If your interested in creating your own, the thread on it is here. https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ml#post2482610

Thanks

It is 1 of 31 Z8 black metallic cabs

When you factor in the interior and top it becomes a 1 of 1 as it is the only 1 of the 31 with a black interior and a classic grey top!

4 factory options: metallic paint, partial leather, XD4 painted crest center caps, and a 437 full power driver's seat.

Thanks
It's not that I think anyone would reasonably be misled and I definitely see why it's used but it just bothers me for some reason I can't quite put my finger on. Like you know it's not factory but have a document stating it is so it's this weird uncanny valley of looking real and fake at the same time. It's such a minor thing I wouldn't change your ad at all, for me it's mostly idle bitching and chitchat on a low traffic subforum.

I'd love to set my 968 up like yours because I bet that thing's a ton of fun and I was very surprised it didn't sell the first time. It also helped me settle on some targa speedlines that currently are getting touched up before getting mounted.

No problem.. Thanks. I updated the picture to say "Not Original" to prevent any further confusion.

I like my Speedlines, I wanted the two piece looks with the bolts but didn't want to go above 17" and I really like the look of stock Porsche wheels, just my personal preference. I think they look better on the 968 than the 911, but again my personal preference.
