I think re-spray is right between salvage title and 'needs a clutch'.

in my world, 'loosing paint' is just part of the 'driving it as it was meant to be driven' game. bears trashed one of my black cars...three times, but the worst was the turkey that saw its reflection.
Pretty sweet machine:
1 of 31 Cobalt coupes
1 of 6 Cobalt coupes with black interior
Metallic paint
LT partial leather
403 17" cup1s
490/494 hi-fi sound with 10 speakers and amps

Note the spoiler is painted. It was NOT like that when it was at the factory.

Never will a repainted car be considered for my garage. I have never knowingly bought a car that even had a corner or a road rash hood repainted. I have sold cars because they have lost their virginity. My weird flaw I guess but there is magic in the words "100 % original paint".
My only exceptions to this would be a track car, a very rare barn find, a ground up Speedster or 914-6, any P car I could have for $1. Maybe $100 and any car not made by Porsche.
Orangepeel! Its gotta have orangepeel the dreaded word for all other cars. There are shops that can duplicate this very well but not under my watch.

The red ebay car has been for sale for years. I've inquired about it a few times but the price has always been too high. The seller seems like a difficult seller. I googled him and he owns or owned a towing company and has been arrested in the past so I decided to take a pass.

Why would a 43k car require a reprint. Somewhat of a red flag.

The seats are a completely different color tan, that would bug me to no end.

That one has been for sale on and off since at least last fall. Think I recall when it sold in Florida (watching the 968 market on and off since 2008 or so). Last time it had 944 wheels.

As far as northeast 968's, I gave up and had mine shipped in a few weeks ago from Oklahoma (originally a Texas car for over half its miles/life). So far it only appears that it may need engine mounts (just measured right at 60 mm installed height, noted as suspect by the person sent to inspect) and an outer sunroof seal. Incredible maintenance history on the car, and just checked the breakaway torque on the LSD, 31 NM Koni's on the rear look like new, and Bilstein on the front (opposite toureg's combo?). Have yet to see any rust.

There is a compartment next to the airbox, I opened it and it has a pair of white gloves in a bag, was this something Porsche did?

Yes, the wite gloves would be factory original so don't use them.

Sounds like you found a nice example, has Jeff run the VIN options for you?

az, yes Jeff ran the VIN and told me a few things I had not deduced from the picture of the option code sticker. Planning to start a thread on the car as Jeff said it is a one of one.

Anyone want to rescue a cab in VA? Might be amazon green in which case you could merge it with the one out on Long Island listed above. Might have been the one that was starting to part out last month

Default 968 on PCA Site

https://www.pca.org/classified-ad/315282

Sounds like a deal....

Average to good condition daily driver and HPDE car. Six speed manual. All maintenance records from my purchase in Oct 1999. Last serviced June 2016. The car has upgraded suspension, DME chip, AC system, battery, Alpine Radio / CD, Kinesis wheels, and more. Partial repaint in 2012. Sale also includes original wheels and suspension. Wonderful, practical daily driver!
