968 CS hatch release bowden cable routing and mount?
Hi All, basically as time goes on, I am customizing my car, but trying to keep things in the spirit of what Porsche either did or would have done.
One of the things I want to do, is remove the rear motor, and key mech for they hatch.
I was still able to order the T handle, and the key delete from Porsche, but they no longer sell the bowden cable that releases the hatch. Not a big deal as I think I can source it from other places, or something close to it.
One question I do have is how does the cable mount? From looking at pictures, it is mounted into the rear USA driver's side wheel well, near the top. My car does have a bump similar to where the cable handle runs into under the carpet.
What I question is does it have another bracket. or is there a hole to drill that stays internal to the body. The parts catalog shows no such mount that I can see. Just the cable, handle and key hole plug.
Anyone that can lift the carpet a bit and take some photos, of that and cable routing, I would be grateful.
Thanks!

Thanks, trying to visualize that, I did in my search seem to find some cables on ebay that seemed to match part numbers but said they were for a 911.

Cable is no longer available I tried to order, handle is.
For some reason, I ordered this cable, as an alternative, and I don't remember why, doh! 944-512-097-02
I think I thought I found it and was a typo, so not sure. Too many things going on in life
However it is just a bowden cable, so in theory should not be that hard to source.

I looked up all the parts on the German 968 Part Catalog PDF, I thought I posted them all here, as I spent an hour or so, going through looking for CS specific parts.
You will want the key plug too, those you can get, so you can remove the hatch key mech.

It is interesting to see the differences, all the padding is different, for sound deadening, etc.
Some are just earlier 944 parts.

Just changed en to de and E_ to D_ and got the catalog in german

Besides the cable and the handle, is there anything else needed?
If so, can you please post a list of the items and if possible the part numbers?
Thanks!

Good timing on this thread - I want to put this on my 944.
Don't have the release motor anymore (never worked) and don't like having to shut the car off to open the hatch
...but because I'm cheap, I'll probably just invent a new cable out of bike parts or something.
...or just this ...going to pick it up after work today and see how it works. I think the cable will be long enough that I can put the handle near the door sill rather than on the rear wheel. Pics to come...
