Porsche 968 turbo S factory delivered prototype resurfaced
We just received a PS800XXX VIN 968 Turbo S. It was sold by Porsche AG to the current private owner in 1994 as a "1992 Porsche 968 Turbo S". Porsche so far assumes it was one of the rare prototype cars. According to our research it is the first one to resurface.

968 Turbo S
Hi Jay, the car will get a proper photoshoot next weekend and will then be presented at Techno Classica Essen. It is speed yellow according to the invoice by Porsche Ag but the Porsche archives show it as paint to sample/special order painted car.

With a PS800### VIN that would also show it started life a a normal 1993 ROW 968 coupe. It will be interesting to see the documentation that supports the car. Thx

Well, I guess the market will have to decide on this one. With the turbos having their own factory VIN series of 890 I'm not sure what to make of a standard ROW 800 series VIN car that has been converted????

968 Turbo S
Well. Porsche confirms it is a prototype of a turbo S. In those days those were built on a standard chassis with tailormade technical testing configurations to develop the new model. For the Turbo S specifically those tests were finished after only three months. The prototypes were then used for harder testing, homologation, press viewings etc and later for many models disassembled or taken into the museum collection. for the 968 turbo S we are talkign about the car was sold to a private person well liaised with Porsche as a "968 turbo S" with a feature list and, contract and invoice all, confirming it was a "0" series car "968 turbo S". So provenance is out of question and the vin confirms the "0 series" or prototype status. So far the phones are running hot on it.
