Just Bought a 1992 968 in rare Tahoe Blue colour
Hi everyone,
I am new to the forums - this is my first post.
I live in Australia and have a 911, but wanted to get something a bit older to tinker with.
I came across this locally delivered and owned Tahoe Blue 968 for sale and having fallen in love with the colour I had to have it. The previous owner has had the car for many years and decided to buy a newer car with more creature comforts. Silly I think!!! I won't ever let her go!
It is in pretty good condition outside, the inside probably needs retrimmed front seats, and aside from aesthetics it needs a few service items such as timing belt etc right now...but given that it is a bit of a project car - I am really happy with the purchase.
Having picked it up last week - I have been doing a bit of research and it seems that the Tahoe Blue is a rather elusive colour. Can anyone confirm the story behind why so few cars were delivered in this colour? I really love it - and for a 20 year old car (built in 1992) she is rather the head turner!
Anyway - I am sure I will be coming to these forums regularly so hope to speak to some of you soon.
Cheers

Wow! That car is a real beauty!!
Not sure why so few were done in that color but regardless it's a good looking color! What color is the interior?

It has a black interior.
In the original delivery papers it has an option code that is "exclusive program" and apparently relates to the interior?
The seats are black leather and have blue stitching to match the body of the car. The blue is a very dark colour and I can't tell if it is just really dirty and worn out or if it was a very dark blue in order to be a subtle touch. It almost looks black. If the stitching was the exact same blue as the car it might look a bit cheap so that might be the case I think.

You're welcome
Black interior with blue stitching sounds really nice! I've also seen a couple 968s in the Riviera Blue Exterior with the light grey interior and those are nicely coordinated too. If you're thinking of redoing the interior upholstery finding parts in the black color will definitely be easier!
Cheers!

Nice. Yes, Tahoe blue is a rare one. For North American production they only produced 5 cabs in the code 58 Tahoe Blue and just one coupe (actually 2). This was one of ten special metallic colors offered in 1992 only and cost a whopping $1500 extra! There is one additional Tahoe Blue coupe here in the US. Someone must have really liked the color because they visited their dealer in 1993 and ordered a color to sample metallic 968 coupe in Tahoe blue. Color to sample cost $2500 extra.

Great color. The Exclusiv program could be almost anything; in the US many 968's have the 09991 code denoting that the car was built with a non stock configuration. In my coupe, for example, the drivers seat had an 8 way power seat while the passenger seat had to make do with a 4 way power seat. A rootwood shift **** or hand brake handle would be another example of an Exclusiv option.

More pics
It's been a while since I started this post. Here are a few more pics of my 92 Tahoe Blue Coupe.
I have done quite a few different bits and pieces from new seals to new leather seats covers and foam to doing a leatherique restoration of the steering wheel and shift **** and much more. Will do a few more updates soon but here are some more pics!
