Default BBS LM Rep Group Buy - any interest?

Guys,

Thought I would find out if there was any interest in this. We would only need 5 and the wheel maker would spec the offsets to exactly what we wanted. 18" wheel with offsets similar to Speedlines for the 968 Turbo. The maker is a brand called Linea Corse, which are very popular with the BMW crowd. I had another version (19"-z2s, which are equally nice and have beautiful deep lip on the rears) on my 335i coupe a couple years back and the fit and finish was very nice, especially for the cost. After researching a CSL type wheel for my BMW, I ended up with these. The weight, cost and appearance was the perfect package and I never had to worry about having heart failure if I bent one on the city roads in Houston.

Approx $1,299 for the set and they weigh in about around 22 & 24lb's respectively for the front/back. The wheel is called the Lemans, but the z2s is a good looking one as well.

You can see pics of these at http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=5475

I haven't posted a lot here, but bought my 968 from Trevor and I believe he would vouch for my integrity if push comes to shove. Oh yeah...top pic is the Lemans and the bottom is the Z2s

So let me clarify, these wheels will be 5x130 (Porsche) bolt pattern and not 5x120 (BMW)?

Yes, good question, hah. They will be 5x130 Porsche bolt pattern and customized to spec for offsets. My goal would be to have fitment similar to the Speedline 3.6 wheels. If there is enough interest, we can hammer down the exact offsets before we move forward. Oh, and another note, they would be 8.5's in the front and 10" is the rear, or at least that was my thought.

The BMW pics are only shown as examples of the two wheels.

Default Tell me about the offset

Is that used to match another wheel. That sounds about right and close to what I was considering. What size tires and wheels were you considering?

Default Number of takers

So far, just you, me and one other. I need a total of 5. I suspect I should consider posting over in the 944 section. I am just not sure the offsets are the exact same for a 951 vs. a 968. I know they are close.. Have any thoughts?

Off the top of my head I'm not sure. I think the 87+ N/A and 87-88 Turbos have the same offset. I think the M030 offset is different just a little. Not sure which offset the 968 uses but I would suspect the same as the N/A, S2s and Turbos. I'm sure it's close enough is shouldn't matter. I'm running club sport wheels of a TurboS on my N/A and I know plenty of people run Cup wheels of the 968 on thier 944/951s.

But yes, you might have better reaction to posting on the Turbo and the general 924/944/968 forum. Also might help to photoshop the wheels on to a 944/968 so people can see how they look. I think they'd look sick and at the price, like you said I wouldn't be super paranoid about them.

I want a pair but I have to figure out how deep of **** I'd be in from my finacee. Also have to price tires for it.

Looks like they already advertise the Lemans wheel for a 996 in a 5x130 pattern:

They do offer the LM rep in a 996 version, but only a 19. After talking to Zoeb (the owner), he can have a set (any set) customized to our exact specs, but has to have 5 full sets. I believe some wheels can be shared between the 993, 996 and 968, I just don't know how ideal the offsets are when you do that. Going to do a little research and post up the desired offsets and see how people feel about it.

Two questions: Will a 10" rear wheel fit a 968 without flaring the fenders? I put my Kinesis K28R wheels from my 928 on my 968 cab just to see how they looked. Once the car would have to settle after jacking it up I think they would have hit the fenders. And the inside rubbed too. Not sure that the front 9"ers wouldn't have hit the fender lip as well. Or if not, they sure would have been close.

Second question, Would they only offer them with the polished finish? Or would it be possible to get them painted? I'd possibly pay a bit more for that.

Default LMP Reps

I know 10's will fit, but it's very dependent on the offset. I have Cup II's on the rear that are 9's and have plenty of room. A number of racers run 8.5 fronts and 10 rears.

As far as the polished vs. painted, I believe these are all welcomed requests, but I would have to check.

Ok, now that I am not trying to type this on my Iphone.

10's will fit, as I have had SSR's with 10's on the rear and they fit well. Also have seen a couple of HRE 10's that fit well. I think the turbo 3.6 speedlines are 10's as well...someone out their correct me if I am wrong.

In regards to the colors. I know they offer a variety of colors, I will have to check to see if they would do a custom order with each person having different colors. Not sure. Will get back with more information.
