Cast OEM crossdrilled rotors available for 968?
Can anyone advise me whether the 968 came stock with OEM cast holed, i.e., same as cross-drilled, front rotors to fit the S4 calipers (same as 944 Turbo S)? Also the same question for the rear brakes? I believe the rear calipers are the same for the S2, Turbo, Turbo S, and 968. Any part numbers and/or model year/option would be appreciated (e.g., 1994 968 w/MO30). If not, any other Porsche front rotors work? I have a used set of S4 front calipers for my car and am considering cross drilled rotors front and rear. I am keeping the 16 in. wheels. Thanks!

The cross-drilled rotors came on the 968 M030, which was available in 1993. The fronts will fit any 944 turbo or S2 with the S4 type calipers. They are VERY expensive, with a list price over $300 each. In the long run it may be cheaper to upgrade to the big reds, which are surprisingly reasonably priced.
Since I'm running the 911 C2 turbo front drilled rotors and big black calipers, I also installed the 968 M030 rear rotors on my S2. I like them a lot because they have very good feel.
Part numbers and pictures are available in the Brake section on my web site.

I purchased a set of front xdrilled Zimmerman sport rotors. Not M030 however I would not be suprised if Part Werks of Chicago 800-366-9147 has the M030 type.

From the top of my head the PN for the rear crossdrilled disks is 961 352 041 90, and they are also used on the 964 RS (maybe not the RS America, I'm not familiar with that model) .. A note on crossdrilled disks, while they may be benifitial for wet weather driving and/or for looks, they are less efficient than non drilled disks. They simply have less surface area to radiate heat. They will also wear much faster, and develop a funny wear pattern which in turn will call for even sooner replacement. If you do have to install them, try to find undrilled disks with the holes cast in them, these are less prone to cracking, Porsche developed this technique (in part or in whole, dunno).
Hope it helps,

The 968 M030 package did come with x-drilled rotors front & rear. And as Tom said, they are crazy expensive. The have come down slightly in price - $255ea. front & $213 ea. rear.
Zimmerman DOES NOT offer a copy of the 968 M030 front rotor. Z des have a x-drilled front rotor that fits the non-M030 brakes.
If you want x-drilled rotors on the front of your 968 and you either have the M030 kit or have upgraded to S4 calipers, get ready to throw down some big $$.

I have been researching replacement of the rotors and rebuilding the calipers on my 1995 968 M030 for the last month or so. The OE rotors have 97K miles on them and have many many small hairline cracks. They are also just a mm or so below factory spec for thickness. The car has been autocrossed extensively and I now use it in DE and Time Trials, so it is time for a change. I have learned that Michael at Prospeed Motorsports is right - the best prices I could find for OEM replacements was $265.00 ea. Front and $190.00 ea. Rear. If you are planning to track the car (who wouldn't with a 968 M030), be aware that the drilled OEM rotors will probably not last like a flat or slotted rotor would. The drilling automatically makes the likelihood of hairline cracking much higher, especially with high friction pads and extreme temperature cycles. I am planning to try the slotted frozen rotors with some rebuilt calipers (from Prospeed Motorsports) this season and will report back up to the forum with results. TKS> Jeff M
