FROM THE 968.NET discussion: http://63.136.85.109/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3100

John great post but I think you are missing out on a lot of the excitement this event has to offer I will give you some first hand information on the Festival of Speed Experience. Last year was the first year the San Diego region offered this amazing event.

Event includes:

Concurs
Porsche Coral and concurs... you will witness a few HUNDRED Porsche's of of all makes and models the Boxster group and 356 Registry comes out in full force. There will be both a peoples choice and a judged Concurs event.

Swap Meet
Saturday will also bring a Porsche Swap meet last year 30+ spaces were populated with the success of last years event I would not hesitate to think this could double in size.

Sponsor Booths
20+ sponsors last year set up tents and booths to show off all of the latest products and offerings... Companies like Performance Products, Kinesis Motorsport, Pelican Parts... and so on. By Design brought out 30+ modified 996, 986 and Ferrari's these were a blast to see.

Track tours
The main event is the races but the Track tours were fantastic... Between the races heats a pace car will escort 25 or so cars around the race track for a few laps the speeds were not at a pace you could get on it if you wanted to. Last years cost was about $20 This was available Sat and Sun both days were a sell out. For some this will be one of the highlights of the event.

Lining up last year: (If you look closely way down at the end on the right side lies a Red 968 Cab

The Race
After all this event is called the Festival of Speed. Sponsored by the San Diego region PCNA and Pioneer Centers (John & Chris's employer) There will be a DE, Club races and GrandAM with 3 possible 4 days of racing starting on Thursday running through Sunday. They are attracting some of the biggest names in Porsche racing. Last year race teams came from around the country to participate in this spectacular series of races. Teams like Kelly Moss bringing a handful of GT cars to participate. There were rows and rows of race team semi's that showed up to participate in the Enduro race. You had POC racers in their semi stock Boxsters to full out GT3 race cars running in groups. I am not sure the head count that showed up for the event but I can assure you it was in the thousands.

968 Corral
This is our chance to make a difference at the event. I am going to borrow some of Don's great Ideas. We hope to replicate some of the experience created at the Hershey Celebration. I hope to take away some of what I experience at Hershey and adopt this into the West Coast meet. If we can get half the attendance the East coasters have then we have a formula for a great weekend in Southern Califoria. I have allready received numerous inquiries since we started talking about this a few months back. Please CC: John and I if you plan on attending or have any questions or Ideas that could improve the event....

Also I have confirmation that you will get to see a Speed Force Racing SuperCharged 968 Example (Those lucky parties may even get to take her for a spin..in the passenger seat ) Also there is a confirmed Power House Turbo conversion that will be available for viewing. Let's not forget Trevor's Anderson Motorworks Turbo conversion which is slated to make it down for the event.

John and I are working on some ways we can get some special 968 specific vendors to show up and show off for the event. Stay tuned to the thread for more details
