Post Upgrades to my baby

I was so proud of my baby when I got home from having my new Turbo S front splitter and rear spoiler painted and installed today that I just had to snap a few pics. I think the 18" RHs really make the 968 look sharp. The suspension is all set up.. all I need now is about 100 more ponies and I'll be in heaven!

Looks great, I love the wheels. Did you get all this done to show off at Hershey? If so I look forward to seeing you there!

Well, that was definitely an added incentive! I've been going nuts the last few weeks trying to get my suspension set up, timing belt changed, wheels ordered, front splitter... blah, blah, blah. The last thing left is a good exterior detail before the long drive. Looking forward to seeing you guys there to finally put some faces with the names from a lot of the 968.neters.

Dan, the car looks great. I love that color. I took a look at THIS 968 last night and did a test drive to compare the owner's Bilstein setup to my Konis. I do agree that the RH wheels look quite good on the 968. I need some 18s

Do you plan on making it ridiculously fast? If so, I know just the people to talk to...

Actually, I do but I'm looking seriously at going down the supercharger route instead of the BIG $$$$$ turbo conversion from a place like PowerHaus or KMR. Very anxious to see what happens with the kits from Huntley and SFR. Apparently, Huntley has a prototype 968 running around with their stage II kit on it and they are close to wrapping it up and posting the results. I'm very curious to talk with the owner of the prototype car to see how the whole experience has been so far. Unfortunately, SFR has yet to find someone to offer up a test mule so there's no telling when their kit will be available. I do like the idea of not having to lose my A/C with the Huntley kit but there's been so much bad mouthing between both companies (and by others of Huntley) that I'm trying to make my decision carefully.
The other reason I'm looking at blowers is that if I ever decide to take it off, it's a simple job to remove the parts vs. having a permanently modified car that would likely be difficult to sell, let alone recoup the cost of the conversion.

Yeah, I can understand the bolt on part. I wouldn't want a supercharger though, they're just not practical. I've researched turbocharging a 968, and it can be done properly for about $5000. A huntley kit costs about $7000 right?

Talking

I saw Dan's car at Hershey, and it's as nice in person as the pix would indicate.

And he won farthest distance traveled at the 968 Reunion, coming all the way from the midwest.

The girlfriend is cute too!

CBass, we had a Powerhaus converted Turbo S there for all to see. I think he was talking over 400 hp, would that be enough for you? I'd want mine in a cab, though, maybe tune it down to 350 to keep the car from twisting itself apart . . .

Hey Damian - thanks for the plug! Rachael was happy that she finally got mentioned after non-stop Porsche talk over the last few days.

Cbass - Huntley was talking ~$5,000 for their stage I kit which is supposed to be good for about a 50% increase. That's about all I'd want for my needs. Anything more than 350hp in that engine without doing some fairly serious work (like the PowerHaus stuff) and I'd definitely start to worry about reliability. With only 35,000 miles on my car (2,000 on the trip to and from Hershey) I don't want to shorten it's life any sooner than necessary.

Dan, glad to help! My wife was jealous of all this past weekends activity (Hershey, Indycar race at Nazareth)--and she was in the Bahamas with the kids! I'll bring her next year, she and Rachael can go antiquing or something for part of the time

Powerhaus likes to double o-ring their motors. Expensive as hell. Kokeln runs 550 hp and near 500ftlbs of torque with just about everything stock. New rods, injectors, turbo chip running in stock motronic. I think thats about it

I like the Kokeln conversion the best.
