So cool. Also really like the front bumper cover. Looking forward to seeing the new instruments.

OD looks good. When is the sledgehammer going to make its way to the DC Metro Area? Dont you need to advise Trump or Congress on these tax cuts or something?

Keeping that beer cold

thanks guys.... don't know when i'll bring the 968 back to the East Coast.

fingers crossed but (I believe) i'm getting closer to getting the tach/speedo working.....
then, i'll have a bit of cosmetic touchup left to do with the 4 bezel rings and cf backing.

working with the cf on this tight board is a f_cking p.i.t.a...
the camera makes it look all effed up.... but it's just reflections messing with the lens
looking at it with your eyes, (it's fine).

getting these oversized gauges to fit into the panel was a p.i.t.a......

had to rip out 2 circuit boards behind the original speedo, and (that) speedo still has 2 more boards mounted on it (wtf).
but with a prayer, all the other gauges remained functional.

Was thinking of putting a 996 wheel on my wifes tip car and trying to wire the steering wheel up/down shift buttons to the shifter up/down shift section on the 968 tip/shifter. The big question I have is that there is some reference in this thread from OD that says the airbag system on the 996 is 5 ohm and is compatible with the 968 5 ohm airbag system, how about the hookups/clock spring etc...etc...is that all compatible or what else is needed to purchase a 996 airbag wheel and install on a 968 ?? I dont like these wheels as much as the Club Sport model but they are surely an upgrade to factory 968 wheel and you can keep the airbag which I like for a daily driver. She would club me for spending this much money on a steering wheel but after seeing those up/down buttons on the wheel and me being able to possibly make that work I CANT think of anything else that I would rather be playing with....

I have a detailed write-up on how to do this. It's posted here under my name, just look for Paul Waterloo and steering wheel. There was also another guy who did the tip button upgrade after that, I'll just have to find the thread for you.

Here's the thread on how to upgrade the steering wheel, plus continue reading it, it tells you how to do the tiptronic switches also.

https://rennlist.com/forums/968-foru...the-968-a.html

I love the feel of the steering wheel, I did it in the 968 and again on my 951.

tach problem resolved. after calibrating, tach would only read about 75% of actual... took the car to Joe (electrical guy).... he says, "What year is your computer? 2001 I don't think your computer requires the (5000 ohm) resistor. try recalibrating without it on.... YES! confirming my wiring was good, and Joe, (better).

not cheap, but still not THAT outlandish.
sometimes people pay more for something, just to make themselves feel better, not because they're getting any higher quality.
I can't easily express how amazing it is to have the perfect gear from 3rd to 6th running these tall ratios,
and the short stroke LS7 engine running @ full power.
back roads.... spirited driving on the twisties whatever the speeds...... Pacific Coast Highway.... freeway driving.... and steep mountain grades!!
sublime!
once you experience it, there's no way having 944/T gearbox combo running the tall 5th will suffice......
just not enough performance there.....
to cap it off.... look at that final ratio (last pic)!!

I cheated a bit going with two tweeters per door, plus everything below, like 180 hz filtered out of the 5" midbasses... The 3 1/2" midranges go from 800 to about 5,000, so the doors really scream..... Getting ready to go kind of massive on the midbass behind the doors.... They already carry the heavy lifting.... But their replacements (soon) will carry a good deal more.....

Fresh leather (doors, center column) courtesy of Juan's upholstery, Garden Grove, CA.... If the leathet looks like crud, it's due to my cheap camera phone adjusting to the bright ambient light.... They came out fantastic....
